On April 6 I booked (and paid on-line with Visa) business class return flights with Emirates from PER to NCL via DXB departing PER on Sat 14 Dec 2013 (flight nos EK421 & EK035) and returning on Sat 4 Jan 2014 (flight nos EK036 & EK420) for which I paid AUS$9,452.05. Out of curiosity I checked Qantas' booking website and requested return flights on the same days but was only offered each way prices as follows :

PER to NCL (flight nos QF8421 & QF8035) AUS$7,262.00
NCL to PER (flight nos QF8036 & QF8420) AUS$7,516.00
Total AUS$14,778.00

Since the flights are operated by Emirates, why do Qantas charge AUS$5,325.05 more just to do the ticketing, plus of course the exorbitant fees each way for paying by credit card?

Either because they have yet to "sync" pricing (they had to await ACCC approval) or else because they think people will pay it!

simple. willingness to pay. no doubt you'll find QF flights from DBX to Europe much cheaper than EK, owing to it being EKs home market. in this instance, you were not willing to pay, but you won't get status credits.
