Emirates Skyward points expiring

Hi folks , I'm in a dilemma ( not really)
but I have a couple of questions to pose to wise counsel ( more experienced people)
1. i have 15500 miles that will expire at the end of the month . i know its not a lot but its something
I have spoken with emirates skyward team
they say i can purchase to extend the miles 15500 of them for $492AUD for another year.
I can use them for cash plus mileage but i don't intend to travel internationally in the near future
if i purchase more miles regardless the 15500 miles will still expire
is there any other option i could use to redeem the miles before they expire ?
is there a way i can redeem them for hotel nights?

You can redeem on Qantas domestic although I've not checked the pricing.

i finally rang emirates on the last day of expiry i had 3 options
1. extend my points for another year $470
2. purchase more points to go to Perth next year $510
3. find a destination and book far ahead so i booked SYD - ADL next year 14000miles on Qantas and used extra 1000 miles for charges
good result in the end
