Emirates restricts first class awards to elite members only

The partnership between EK and QF is more significant than many/most that they have. Do we not think that there might be some reciprocity or additional recognition for QF elites like they have in other areas of the program? I understand and agree with limiting access to those who are properly engaged (i.e. equivalent status level access), but to close the door on QF members altogether, to me, seems excessive.

Cheers,
Matt.

I doubt it. QFF awards only limit access to QF metal by tier. Otherwise all tiers of QFF members get the same access to other airlines award seats.

Also EK elites basically can't access QF F awards, maybe they technically can but they're severely limited as QF preferences its own elites for the few available seats. So this would be reciprocal.

Also maybe the fact that you can charge all your tax and other business expenses to Amex au via reward pay etc is boosting the number of QFF points available to book EK F. This would probably still be a rounding error though compared to the cc churning going on in the States. It’s a sign of excessive credit card point printing causing airlines to have to protect their premium product.

Well it's just ticked over past midnight in Dubai, and the Emirates website is still showing F availability to Skywards members with no status. So, looks like this change won't be implemented until later today.
It's midday that Emirates update reward seats (I know this from recently booking F seats and checking for updates)

Wait until 6pm today AEST - midday Dubai time.

Definitely then we'll see awards disappear for Skywards lower tier as Emirates have told us this.

Likely QFF too but we'll see.
Now wondering how upgrading J reward seats may be affected?

Upgrades not affected apparently. But doesn't this need Skywards miles anyway?

I'm aware this is the Skywards forum but I'm guessing a majority of people reading this collect QFF rather than Skywards
I used to collect Skywards back when Citibank had an AU issued card and the AMEX MR transfer was a favourable 2:1

Don't think its that easy to collect them in AU anymore?

Amex MR still does effectively 3:1. Not the worst conversion rate although 2:1 for qff onto EK was better.

Yes, apologies I meant favourable 2:1 compared to the current 3:1 transfer rate

Not only do you burn a lot of MR points but you still get whacked with HUGE taxes and charges
