Next March we are travelling MEL-DXB-VCE, and a few weeks later IST-DXB-MEL on Qantas/Emirates. As both transits are over 8 hours I'm presuming we'll qualify for the Emirates Dubai connect free overnight stopover. We did this about 13 years ago, and didn't find it all that relaxing by the time you'd got through the horrendous queues at immigration control, got to bed in the early hours and then got the wakeup call for the morning flight.

A few questions we had about the process these days:

-is the Dubai connect available for passengers travelling on a Qantas badged flight, or only Emirates?
-Is their a specific hotel that Emirates uses for these long transit passengers?
-Has anyone successfully managed to "add on" a second night to the stopover ( I presume this is not doable, as if you have >24 hours in transit then you don't by definition qualify for the Dubai connect service).

Thanks!

I think in 13 years the immigration may have changed.

However I don't have personal experience.
