Emirates Delays/Cancellations

Looks like the incoming EK414 will indeed do the outbound EK413 (EK414 landed at gate 10 with EK413 also departing out of gate 10).

Interestingly, Emirates website has EK413 departing SYD at 23:45 doing a diversion and arriving into MEL at 1:10 with a 2:55 departure out to DXB. Must be short fueling in SYD to save time and doing the long refuel for the long slog back to DXB.
My guess is they got dispensation to go late but could only take off to the south over water, which looks like would have had some tailwind, so couldn’t be at full weight

So had to just get fuel on for MEL where then they could fully load up

Good point. Of note are SQ242 (A359) and HA452 (A332) who received dispensation for a 34L takeoff vs 16R for the rest of last night's post-curfew takeoffs

Yeah good counter point, didnt notice that

Only thing I can see is that those two took off prior to midnight, where EK413 took off after midnight, perhaps tighter restrictions?

I am no expert though so could be other reasons!

EK414 diverted to ADL tonight.
Reportedly medical but possibly exacerbated due to weather in SYD tonight (wet and windy).
Flightaware still reporting it will takeoff soon and land in SYD after midnight.
And into the air at 2315 SYD time (minus 30 in ADL)

Second ever A380 at ADL (per comment on Adelaide airport stream - seemingly incorrect). QF did it once during trial ops.

Must have got approval for after curfew arrival, rolling down the runway right now.

My old folks had a Etihad A380 diversion into Adelaide, was around 10 years ago from memory.

Checking YouTube seems that there have been multiple diversion in the past including Qantas, Qatar, Etihad and Emirates.

Usually after curfew approvals insist on using an approach from the south, but apparently not the case last night.

Dispensations don’t specify runways, preferred use is over water but operational requirements override that

What looks like big storms surrounding SYD are causing significant delays.

EK416, the Monday 27 January 2145 hours DXB-SYD took off at 2226 hours, only about 10-15 minutes late. It had to hold over Narrandera NSW, and is arriving SYD at 1937 hours, 62 minutes late.
