quite strange I can only find business class for EK departing from Mel to Dxb for Jan and Feb 2020

almost none for dates after March

Is it because they now only release business / first when the dates are close? (although a lot of economy awards)

Yes, the first stouch of J awards would be released a year out, and about 3 months out more may be released depending upon loads. There may be more released a fews days out.

Yes, my experience last Sept shows this.

You may consider a short hop across to Auckland then onto Dubai and next destination from there.

FAR less Kiwis competing to fly EK via QFF. And as a multi-city done inside 24 hours no extra points and from vague memory favourable taxes

could this be done through the site or have to be done via the phone?

personally i'm looking to end up in UK with minimal tax/surchage beatings

Thanks

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Via the multi-city option on the site

So say

Melbourne - Auckland

Auckland - destination (same day as above within 24 hours no extra points and less cost)

There is something strange going on with Emirates. A couple days ago I searched BNE-DXB and DXB-SAW as a multicity and there was availability almost every day in Feb in economy. Heaps of flights like 4 or 5 economy at least each day. Now nothing but first and business is coming up. Are they doing some work on their end? Will the availablilty come back?

OK I have an update on what to do in this situation. If QF is not showing availability in the class you want, you can call and they will book it over the phone. I did this a few hours ago and still waiting for the e-ticket to arrive.

Since hold times were so long, I double-checked availabilty with Emirates who confirmed that N class was available. Then I went on Alaska AIr website to make sure partners could book the seats just in case EK gives more availability to their own members. Everything checked out.

There must be some kind of technical issue that is causing award class N to not show up in QF displays sometimes. But if EK can see it, QF reps can see it.

Thanks for doing the leg work Tiki to figure this out. I was close to pulling the trigger on an Emirates award in May, during a period with wide open availability, and was disappointed when *everything* disappeared overnight!
