As a frequent Emirates flyer I see no benefit to me. In fact I am concerned that Codeshare with Qantas could mean changes to aircraft/carrier out of Brisbane. I have not flown on Qantas for 25 years and have no intention of doing so. Qantas is not in the same league as Emirates.

I agree with 777 300 as I believe that there is no comparison between Qantas & Emirates. Emirates food, in-flight service & seating (especially Business Class) is exceptional & far superior to Qantas.

There can be no arguement about that! Emirates left Qantas behind years ago. Their First and Business seats are way, way better than Q, despite all the Newsome design hoopla!

I don't think EK are tying up with QF for the benefit of their customers, domestic travel might have some benefits for them re lounge access etc.

So if you haven't flown QF in 20 years, how can you say that it isn't in the same league if you haven't compared? Just asking....

I don't know either, but he (she) is absolutely right.
I flew QF (both 1st and Bus) to LHR for 10 years and saw QF rise to great heights and then fizzle. The QF seats are far less comfortable and convenient than EK and the service, cars etc on EK are outstanding advantages. The EK lounges are either too glitzy or too big (Dubai lounge is way too big) but have all the necessities. The QF 1st Lounge in Sydney is looking dated and tired already.

Just curious as to know where this deal means that EK is pulling out of Brisbane?

I don't think this is a question of right and wrong but a matter of opinion. I fly QF J/F/Y (J more than F) and have flown EK Y on many occasions and J twice
Yes there are some good things about EK which you have mentioned.
I do not agree that they are better than QF in every respect. I like the Skybed Mark II seats on QF and don't find them uncomfortable at all.
I think the QF First Lounge in Sydney is neither dated or tired and I rate it as one of the best Lounges I have ever used. However I'll be quite happy if other EK customers agree with you and continue to use the combined J/F Lounge at SYD as I'll have a better chance of getting a Spa appointment ;)

Hmm QF are now going to be providing cars for j and f pax.

I completely disagree re the SYD F lounge.

In fact, the newspaper reports suggest exactly the opposite.

Also agree with other posters, EK loyalists are welcome to keep using the EK lounge in SYD if they don't like the QF F Lounge.

Sent from the Throne

Agreed.

I tend to think the only difference for EK flyers would be the QF pax on board and a few extra destinations you can use your EK miles on.

I am curious to know if my Qantas FF Points will get me SIN/AMS in First or Business Class with a day or two stop over in Dubai with EK Aircraft.
Will I earn FF points ?
I usually go to Singapore with QF on my way to Europe with a stop over for a few days (I love Singapore, especially Marina Bay Sands).
If QF SYD/SIN terminates in SIN, I would buy a SYD/SIN ECY rtn and pay full fare to get points and credits, then a separate SIN/AMS rtn using FF Points in F or B Class.
I plan my trip for 2013, around Sept.
I have never flown EK before, but others tell me it is a vast improvement to QF.
I guess it depends on the crew, aircraft and day plus the luck of the draw eh?
Sadly it looks to be the way of the future if speculation is correct.
As a footnote, I flew OOL/SIN with Scoot in July and found it amazingly cheap, a new aircraft ,clean, crew friendly and polite, excellent service, leg room & food better than Jetstar, on time and can recommend it.

I can tell you the Scoot aircraft isn't new at all, it is a hand me down from SQ

It had been well re furbished then....I have no complaints either way.
Better than some full service aircraft I have been on; and at a fare of less than $A200 each way,who can complain ?

Somewhat ironic username, given Emirates 777's provide just about the lousiest Y cabin you'll ever get on a full-service airline. If you were booked on one of those, and QF metal replaced it, you'd get down on your knees and thank whatever Gods you pray to.

And yes, I also am curious as to how you can not fly on an airline for 25 years yet know that it's no good.

And it's 3-4-3 in economy, is that not a negative compared to JQ

Have to agree Freepyjamas....especially as I can only assume from the OP that s/he is flying from Brisbane, then I can only see being seated on EK metal instead of QF as a DOWNGRADE. For my flights next May BNE to AMS I would have been on QF metal all the way to LHR on fully flat beds (my booking was showing as one of the refurbed 747s from BNE to SNG, then on A380 SNG through LHR). Now if I am on EK metal out of BNE, I most certainly will NOT be on a fully flat bed in J (only SYD has EK A380 and therefore fully flat beds).

But I do believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion about who is better, so Que Sera Sera !
