Changed to control panel after a few months - it cut out all emails for newly subscribed threads but continued to send emails for pre-existing threads.

Didn't take long before most threads moved off to the dead thread list - I'm now only getting emails for active threads which are very popular.....can count them on one hand.

AFAIK, Switching off notifications does nothing for already subscribed threads.

Has anyone tried the following.

Visit http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/subscription.php?folderid=all
Tick the box next to "Notification"
Scroll Down, click the "Selected Threads" button.
Select the "Through my Control Panel only" radio button.
Select "Go".

Does that stop notifications from earlier threads?

-- Edit:
Aaah, the "select all" only selects the subscribed threads on that page, you may need to do the same for each page of subscribed threads (317 in mine ... ouch!)
