Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I disagree. Matt has a good point.

I've had no direct dealings with RedRoo, so can't comment there. However, in one-to-one communication, I don't think a name is unreasonable. Indeed, it's polite.

But to the OP's question, I think expecting an email address for a (relatively) high profile person to be published so publically is unusual and unreasonable.

Finally, I once had quite a deal of difficulty with Vintage Cellars and guessed the email address for Coles Group boss Ian McLeod. He gave a polite reply and passed the buck to someone in marketing/PR/customer care. But the bottom line for me was that the direction from the Group GM gave the gravitas to have the issue resolved promptly.

Well Red Roo has Pm'ed me without name or contact details but asked for mine. Sorry, that's a fail.

In your opinion. Both the VA and QF reps do a lot for this forum.

You are more than welcome to not use the services of the reps on here is that suits you best.

Why do you need to know her name? Isn't it enough that she is helping us with QF related issues?
Remember, she doesn't owe us anything.

Exactly, Red Roo has been verified as the official QF rep on this forum.

I can't see why Red Roo isn't suffice with that being the case.

Or, put another way, "Why do you need to know Red Roo's name? Isn't it enough that Red Roo is helping us with QF related issues? Remember, Red Roo doesn't owe us anything".

Reminded me of a phrase that my grandmother used about the cat's mother. ;)

QFF staff have responded and offered assistance ..... we start bickering - very strange

Red Roo does a great job interacting with AFF - respect!

Just an interesting point to all this, if you happen to go to the V.A. web site - go to 'About Us' - 'Company Overview' - 'V.A. Group Exec Team' - Each member of the Exec team has an e-mail address very clearly published......

Especially when sometimes she is a he.

Providing a name is common courtesy - even if it is part of a name so a person can be identified. At least that way there can be follow up - especially if the person changes from time to time. Not providing a name can sometimes appear like a person is hiding. I don't see the point.

Letters I have received from customer care have had a name on them. Why is there a difference?

It is not correct to think a high profile person cannot be identified with an email address. The CEO of United has a public email address and anyone who wants to can write to him directly. He also personally responds if appropriate for him to do so.

The company reps on this board receive a lot of feedback, in fact pretty cheap feedback on issues they may otherwise have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to achieve (for example through focus groups). Bulletin boards such as these serve as an extremely effective way of gathering intelligence, and are ready-made for the purposes of engagement and consultation.

I would like to see further engagement by the company rep - feedback on substantive and strategic issues.

To say reps 'owe nothing' when they are given first-hand insight into status runs, mileage loop-holes and everything else is a bit of a stretch. We have to think carefully before posting whether or not sharing that information might not be appropriate for an airline audience. There are plenty of things which could be of benefit or interest to members here, but could potentially be closed down in two seconds if they became known. So they aren't discussed.

Red Roo did the same to me before I met her (one roo). I think now I get a name in communications. Also on the Facebook page they always provide a name, and at least one of those names matches a name I know for Red Roo.

Anyway, looks like I missed the chance for Lesley's business card, even if I did compliment her shoes. ;)

But then I sit right next to my boss' gatekeeper and I understand why email addresses aren't given't out willy nilly.

The reps could just be lurking here and use the information to close potential loop holes etc. but instead they are engaging with us and helping us solve problems.

they could - but that would be inconsistent with best practice.

I find it amusing that people here are complaining that Red Roo and the like do not disclose their real names when at the same time many don't disclose their own names and hide behind their AFF usernames.

PS, the company I work for actually puts the real email address of our MD at the bottom of magazine ads, he wants to know himself that things are followed through even if 10 duds = 1 positive

Is your company in the same league as QF?

And re: comment about the virgin execs emails on the website, do you really think that they're their real day-to-day email address? I wouldn't bet on it.

Would it make you happy if Red Roo started signing all correspondence 'John'. Would that make you happy? How do you know Red Roo isn't just one person called 'Red Roo'? There are people with a lot weirder names.

A US Railroad company, in the railway world yes. Around $600M assets in Oz or 2000 items of rollingstock, in the US about 15000 items of rollingstock.

Matt Roberts for anyone wanting my name. :D

I wouldn't worry about hiding behind the username bit. It was probably just missing the ";)".
