Hi Guys,

I had my first J class flights booked from syd - sing -bkk . And then return bkk - sing - syd.

So for the return leg from bkk - sing, i just got an email saying there has been a flight change and i got moved to an earlier flight which is 6 hours earlier. I already had a 5.5 hour transit in my original flight itinerary, Now that will become almost 12 hours, thats just not doable. What are my options? I didnt even accept and i have already got emails saying i am confirmed on the new flight etc. and a new itinerary. I had everything booked exactly the way i wanted including the seats i wanted on the A380 flight back from sing to syd.

There was a later flight than my original booked one which would have meant a 3 hour transit instead of the original 5.5 hour transit that i had waitlisted and got the offer a few weeks ago but decided to stick with my original flight, now i regret doing that.

Give them a call and ask to be put on the later flight. If you booked this through SQ that shouldn't be a problem. As this is all 'SQ' sold and operated, they will be able to change a revenue seat into an award seat for you (it may take a few hours, but it's entirely possible).

The only reason they can't do the above will be if the later flight is full.

I called them up yesterday afternoon. Took a while to get it all organised but they basically had to put me on a flight a day later which then meant i had to move my A380 night flight back a day later too. Luckily the seats i wanted were still available on both flights. There was no other space on any flights from bkk to singapore on the original day :( The guy i spoke with didnt seem too interested in looking at other flight options i think they must have been busy as it took me about 20 minutes or longer on hold before i got through. So he pretty much just told me no other flights on any other day is available besides the next day flight which doesnt add up haha. but thats cool.

It may well be that others on your original flight rang up quicker than you and nabbed the available seats on that next flight.

Have you confirmed this by going directly to the SQ website to book a BKK-SIN flight? If any seat is available for $$ purchase, the call centre will be able to move you on to it.

I didnt take a look, the guy had said i cant just compare flights and see seats are available as mine was a reward seat and also a reward seat only between bkk to sydney and not looking at it separately as bkk to sing and sing to syd as thats a separate seat availability. I think they were just really busy perhaps or he wasnt having a good day as considering how many free seats there were when i logged on to see the seat selection in my new flights, i dont think all the business seats on the previous day would have been booked out or even the other flights on the new day as he claimed.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yeah, the agent wasn't being overly helpful :( If a flight is cancelled, award booking or otherwise, the airline can simply create an award seat for you out of a revenue seat. It's an involuntary change at your end, and the airline can do whatever it wants to help you out. The same with the issue of married segments... it might well be that the BKK-SIN is married to the SIN-AU... but SQ can break that (or create it) to get around the cancellation.

Was the ticket issued through Kris Flyer? or through a partner? If through Kris flyer you can simply ring back and ask for them to put you on the flights of your choice, asking them to 'create award inventory due to an involuntary cancellation by the airline'.

It was booked through krisflyerm, but now i am already in thailand so a bit more difficult making calls and waiting on hold. At least i know for next time now, thanks. I just took everything they told me and didnt question it. If it happens again i will ask them to move me to the flights i wanted. I had thought thats how they would be but didnt seem to work out like that. But i did wait on hold for a bit so maybe they were really busy and tired by the time they got to me,

Have just had a similar experience, where they've fobbed me off on a schedule change booking me a day earlier (which isn't suitable) and refusing to change to a day later.

Got told "there's no redemption seats available" and refusing to oversell the class, any tips before I have another go tomorrow?

Do you know which call centre you reached? India, Philippines or Singapore? I suspect that may make a difference.

Unsure as to which one, but I think you might be o to something. They did need to check with someone and call me back, whether that was a supervisor I’m not sure,I think I might just need to try a different angle

Sometimes worth trying the Singapore number during Singapore business hours, although this can also be directed to India or Philippines.
