No reported injuries which is pretty remarkable if true!

Fairly confident that it will be a write off.... Engine completely removed from wing. Hope everyone is safe.

The other airport DWC (Maktoum international airport - AKA Dubai World Centre) has been accepting diversion including EK415 today. The other alternate that QF has used in the past is MCT (Muscat) . SHJ (Sharjah international airport also available

The airport is now operational but with network wide delays. But you have a point. Other delays at the airport makes QF1 non operation less visible.

777 is one tough machine.

Concerning reading the latest reports of a potential go around that went wrong and hit the deck.

Sounds like somebody forgot about the positive rate of climb before gear up.
