EK435 Odd Routing

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has any understanding of what is happening with this flight? It appears to be scheduled AKL-SYD but has flown AKL to be near BNE, the EK website says it was diverted in-flight and now it seems to be flying back to Sydney for a later departure to BNE and then DBX.

Ahh, I must have misread the flight status...I thought it was scheduled AKL-SYD but had operated AKL-BNE.

That's a serious diversion, also a weird track near Toowoomba.

If you're in MCY and were on QF you were either on one of two MEL/BNE flights or DRW/BNE. An ADL/BNE flight diverted to OOL and the grand daddy of them all PER/BNE diverted to ROK!

The EK435 wasn't far off landing on RW01 but then did a few laps before heading south.

Yep! We were the last one to leave after the VA NAN flight and the earlier MEL-BNE flight. It was a zoo at BNE but QF surprised me only had to wait about 10 mins for bags and was out in taxi cue pretty quick.

If you checked on bom.gov.au yesterday you would have seen some severe thunderstorm warnings. Lightning wind hail etc over fairly wide area. You would have been glad you diverted!!

Yep we had two storms one after the other here. I watched a darwin flight come in to land only to abort and fly south and start a holding pattern on FR24. Was quite heavy, couldn't see 100m down the street there was that much hail and rain and the wind was atrocious haha.

Then watched all these 10 minute flights from OOL - BNE later in the night
