EK F MEL-AKL, better to check in in person at 4.30am on day of flight?

Auto doors to the loos are an interesting feature!!!
A bit more cost control here, by the looks of it, comparing the QF MEL J lounge, to the QF SYD J lounge which is my usual haunt.
No baine marie where you can serve yourself food, here its the personal cook at the nook who does cook to order.
By the looks of it, from my walk around, its a similar size to the QF SYD J lounge, while better than the basement QF MEL J lounge, not as plush as the QF SYD F lounge would be.
Still nice though.
Not trying the massage.
Didn't get any phone call from any QF staff, ie, First Host, not expected either as I am just off to AKL.
My phone number is on my booking.

0710 is WAY early to board that flight for F. a lot of waiting around - even moreso if it got in a bit late.

a bit late now to point that out (but I had said much earlier same thing )

AP I am confused - you're wanting J->F upgrade on the return? that's how I read it.. but I thought your whole trip was in F?

anyway.

interesting to read First impressions of the First lounge given it's all a bit blase for many of us who know the drill well so thanks for that.

I was only pax in F today. They prefer to fly F empty by the looks if it.
J was full. Went to check bar in J.
Y would have been awful. Chocked.
380 was dozey but 009 made me dizzy.
No Onehunga trains, Southern line open though.

RichardMel, from my understanding Poochie was hoping for an upgrade to F for the trip home, but sounds like he may be out of luck. One way in F is better than no way and F & J are certainly better than Y which sounded chockers (as was J on the way over).

Pooch you're lucky your sojourn didn't involve BNE/AKL/BNE on the EK434/EK435 flights as trans-Tasman bit got cancelled and pax accommodated in BNE hotels rather than transferred to flights on other airlines. Not sure if all pax will get out today or it they'll have to wait until tomorrow 27 Dec.

ISTR a similar thing happened about a week ago as I saw the EK A380 mid arvo at gate 75 BNE Intl when it should've been enroute AKL/BNE by then.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, on 11 December 2015 EK took delivery of A6-EOS, its fourth A380 minus an F cabin in the 58J/557Y config joining its three sister aircraft in the same config A6-EOP, A6-EOQ, A6-EOR. Not sure how many of the 2 class 388's they plan to have in the fleet however the latest delivery on 24 December 2015, A6-EOT is back in the 14F/76J/429Y config.

Wonder what the plan will be for disrupts when there is an a/c sub as they will have 14 F pax they need to reaccommodate, and an instant oversale in J of 18 or 32 should they downgrade the 14 F pax to J instead of reaccommodating them on other 388 flights have still have an F cabin.

6 alpha numerical bar code on QF e tix can be used to EK OLCI and will generate a QR code... if you are flying the QF 4 digit flights between Au and NZ on the QF - EK codeshare.
Will still need passport swiped or scanned.
Will ask for a BP at that time.
Will ask for an op up, they can only say no.
If any colleagues will be in the EK lounge at AKL int for any of the EK flights tomorrow, please go nicely on the gawking guy.

Will be using the earlier Skybus then, Blackcat to get to AKL airport a bit earlier.
See if our paths do meet.
The masses by the auto exit gate past the Snartgate tix collection point at AKL is a sight of disbelief.
Can't believe AKL has do many greeters there at the airport.
