From 30th October EK413/414 & EK418/419 services on the Tasman do a switch-a-roo.

Emirates to Offer First A380 Christchurch Services | Scoop News

This will mean EK413/414 will refer to A380 flights from Dubai via Sydney and onto Christchurch & vise versa.

It also means EK418/419 services ex DXB-BKK-SYD will instead fly to Auckland. This has been a B777-300 historically - but will this mean SYD-AKL on EK metal from 30th October will be a B777 now? Or are they putting two extra A380's to NZ on 30th October? My money is that SYD-AKL on EK will go B777 on 30th October.

They are also upgrading the EK448/449 AKL-DXB direct flight to A380 on 30th October, which was launched early this year as B777-200LR

I read another source which said 5 A380s to NZ which suggests that SYD-AKL will stay as an A380. That being said, the GDS is showing it as a 77W at the moment.

I have spent 2 hours trying to figure out which way it will go today, reading all sorts including people saying 5 x A380's - however I am not yet convinced and will see when we see as announcement is about the change to CHC, and nothing official about what is happening to AKL.

Currently cannot book any SYD to AKL or CHC on EK past 30th October, so no ways until they put inventory up to get any clear indications that way what is going on on the daily SYD-AKL EK flight. Time will tell.

Here's the EK release. It's not specific about SYD-AKL

So the new Sydney departure from AKL on the 380 is a lot earlier and the syd-akl is now later in the morning. QF look to have rejigged their schedule so as not to clash directly with the ek codeshare too.

New schedule will help pad out the crowds in the AKL lounge. Seems either the inbound from BNE or MEL will turn around in akl and operate the akl-syd-bkk-dxb run.

"Emirates is the only airline offering year-round scheduled A380 services to and from New Zealand."

Love their press release line, that I didn't see anyone else publish.

SQ are the only other players with A380 to NZ, and that is seasonal through summer, one daily flight that I can think of. Reverts to B777 daily through the rest of the year.

We are (were??) booked on QF 8763 AKL - SYD in early December. Received a seat alert notice this morning to say our selected seats were available WT???.

A check on expert flyer shows 8763 as cancelled and looking at the seat maps of alternative flights, at a guess, we seem to have been moved to EK 419 departing 4.30pm. Still showing as an A380.

the schedules seem to have been updated on emirates.com - i can see the 380 appearing on SYD-BKK from November onwards - which for me is the most interest anyway as its now the best equipment on the route and will hopefully spark a price war

Yep, and also same on 31st October onwards for SYD-AKL, with A380 and flight numbers changing to EK418/419

NZ will see 5 X EK A380's Daily - 4 of them in AKL on the ground at the same time.

These 5 flights must be tying up 10 X A380 frames for EK.

Awaiting the day that AKL is fogged out from any arrivals - and the 4 A380's need to divert. Has happened once before to EK - and all went to CHC.
