EK A380 Best Y Seats?

We have discussed the best Y seats on QF for some time on the A380 and now I am about to fly EK from DXB to LHR in Y and wondered what the best seats are in Y.

What are your thoughts and experiences?

I was on an EK A380 the other day and went for a wander through the Y cabin. There aren't really any stand out good seats (like an equivalent of QF's 71D/BA's 25D).

Exit rows on the 38M config:

Avoid 41A and 41K. These have a protruding slide. 68A/K and 81A/K are fine however as these aren't up against the door.

+1 for 68 A/K. They're the EK equivalent of QF's 80 A/K.

I had used 41C, 68A and 81K on EK 388.

If you want to disembark quickly, try 41C/H but would only suggest a day flight only.

The brushing from the toilet queue is annoying in that row.

81A/K leaves the plane pretty much last, so be warned.

41A/K has the door bulge so avoid at all costs.

68A/K is close to loo, just one (exit) row away - quite handy (you know when to get up without standing in queue) and not affected by queue brushing.

81A/K: further from loo (towards the back, harder to see when you should leave your seat - unlike 68A/K).

My choice: 68A/K

BTW, if you wish, you could turn up early (T-3 or T-3.5) and would have a better than even chance of scoring an exit row seat.

I checked in for EK Y at the J counter (as a QF SG at the time) bypassing some 30-40 pax in the Y queue.

Even if given the brush off treatment at check in, you could always make a polite enquiry from the EK lounge. I had successfully changed from 68J to 67J from lounge after the SYD agent told me assertively that "68J is an exit row seat". I did not want to create a scene at check in so I made my way to the lounge post haste !

On another occasion in DXB, I asked the lounge angel to move me forward from 81K to 68A. Again, I did not want to push my luck at check in.

The moral is that the lounge angels are very, very helpful - to my polite requests anyway.

I will try that it is a pain that EK dont allow Status passengers to pre book these seats like QF and now even for P1 Customers

A good way to approach it legroom - I don't think there is much point pushing a matter if the staff member you are talking to at that moment has "put the shutters up". Wiser to simply ask again somewhere else and hope you score someone a staff member whose not having a bad day. Arguments rarely achieve much
