Hopefully it will be resolved peacefully......why they are heading to Cyprus is a mystery.

Apparently now landed in Cyprus. Originated from Alexandria.

Don't have much else in the way of info atm.

edit: 81 pax (assuming plus crew) flight MS 181, landed at Larnaca Cyprus.

Another report says 60 pax (again assuming plus crew)

Looking at Flightradar, https://www.flightradar24.com/MSR181/93d5b9d

seems a very direct route. Now saying 55 pax plus 5 crew

I've been keeping an eye on ABC's live blog: EgyptAir flight MS181 hijacked, forced to land in Cyprus: live blog - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Apparently these are the people on board: captain, co-pilot, one stewardess, a security official and three passengers

It would appear to be a personal matter rather than terrorism. The hijacker is an Egyptian male with a Cypriot wife who is living in Cyprus.

He has requested asylum in Cyprus

I think hi-jacking a plane and holding hostages is terrorism regardless of the purpose otherwise everyone would have been released. He bought a ticket to get on the plane, he should have just bought one to Cyprus.
