If you need the whole shebang you can enroll in National Seniors if you are over 50 otherwise put an older relative in as a member as it is $60 for 3 years. Once you have the membership number you can buy all sorts of discounted Gift Cards on your credit card and get them mailed to you (limit $2,000 face value a day).
They are slow in processing the cards so be patient.
i laughed when I used my Woolies gift cards at Dan Murphys as the manager told me "no one gets a discount at Dans!"
I love saving $98 each time I get at least $1902 frequent flyer points by buying 4 $500 face value cards for $1902.
There are quite a few participants in the program so it is not just Woolies and Coles.

Isn't 5% of $2,000 exactly $100 or is there a GST/postage calculation which I am missing?

the RACQ has the same offer.
And I live in NSW!

Do they have a shop where one can collect Wish cards? I do not want to spend big money on Wish cards and wait for them to be delivered by post.

I get my RAC WA cards in two days, pretty seamless!

It is very seamless when you get them! What happens when you pay $1000+ for Wish cards and they do not arrive?

With my luck it is one risk I do not want to take....

Registered post is $2 for piece of mind.No risk at all.

Only no risk if the additional insurance cover has been paid, which to my understanding is not available when buying these cards...

[h=1]Registered Post[/h]When you are sending items of value or importance within Australia or internationally, Registered Post gives you an added level of security.
[h=2]Benefits of using Registered Post[/h]Registered Post gives you:

  • proof the article was sent when lodged at the post office counter
  • proof the article was received - a signature is obtained on delivery
  • compensation for loss or damage of the article up to $100 for a standard registered delivery
  • the ability to send bank notes and coins to a maximum face value of $200 within Australia. These items cannot be sent using any other Australia Post service.
[h=3]Optional services (additional fees apply):[/h]
  • Delivery confirmation - a card is returned to you with the recipient's signature.
  • Person-to-person delivery* - your mail will be delivered to the addressee (only available within Australia).
  • Extra cover up to $5,000 (only available within Australia).

RAC WA include the insurance cover, like I said, no risk, end of story.

Perhaps, but needs to be tested I guess... As long as they deliver it to the right address, and someone (you) with the ID then yes, I think there would be no risk

About 3 yrs ago I purchased some items online that were then sent to me by registered mail. When the parcel arrived at my address I was not home, but the lady across the street was home, saw the auspost van pull up. She,knowing that I was waiting for a parcel came across and signed for it, even though it was addressed to me she was given it without showing any id. When I rang auspost to inquire why this happened I was told that the item just had to reach the address and for someone to sign for it, meaning anyone as long as they were at the address

You can ask for a Person to Person service which ensures that the labelled recipient is the only one who can sign. Then you will need ID.

Sent from my iThing.
Why, because iCan.

Oh ok, I wasn't offered that option at the time of purchase. You just assume that it is person to person.

Now let's say You save $480 for the year after allowing for your membership to some association that has been mentioned.
You could reduce that part of your cost of living and pay off debt like a home mortgage faster and have a smile on your face.
That saving may be per person so if you have a family the saving may be quite a bit more.
