I fly a very common route often, Sydney to Melbourne, before the changes of charging for economy X, i would have a high rate of having a shadow in rows 3-6, after the changes I have not had a shadow in over 8 flights on the route, either there are more platinum's or are willing to pay extra for economy x

The $150 is far too much for me to pay for YX on the LAX flights. I tried it once, and it was nice, but not much different than WP used to get for free, and not enough difference to pay 25% more fare. WP should at least get a discount for international YX, or it should be free with a Freedom fare. Until then, I'm boycotting :p

Economy X has been around for a while now on VA1 to LAX. I am trying to find out what the seat pitch is for this flight in the standard Economy X seats, (not exit or bulkhead). Is it the same as domestic ie 34" or better. Seat Guru say 38" but not confident this is for standard economy X seat.
Thanks

We flew it in 2017 as a family - and have just booked it again for our kids. The pitch is a very decent 38" (the former Premium Economy pitch, which is now 41"). We never choose bulkhead or exit rows as they cop the traffic. Avoid row 21 on the left hand side and 20 on the right side (staggered configuration). All other rows are cool.

Priority boarding was a huge benefit - as was the overhead locker. The meals are still economy, but they give you first option and there is a dedicated FA to look after your cabin.

I think it is excellent value and wouldn't hesitate to use it - the imposition of the seat in front when they recline is the deal breaker. It's still annoying when they do it before the plane even takes off (FA soon sets them straight), but the pitch makes things much more manageable.
