Flying to LAX on 25th May in Economy, have the choice of going direct from BNE or BNE-SYD. Obviously going from BNE saves a few hours of flight time overall and going via SYD will get me some extra SC/Points and onto the A380. I'm more concerned about comfort for a long economy flight.

Is one aircraft clearly better than the other for this flight or just go for shorter flight time and forget about it?

Do you have status that will get you access to the F lounge in SYD?

If not, then I would suggest BNE - LAX direct, unless you desperately want the extra few SC's and points.

Agree , BNE-LAX Direct unless you desperately want to fly on the A380 or as mentioned .have access to use the F lounge in SYD . The least amount of time spent in Y , the better I say . .

I don't have status but have a couple of QC Comp entry passes from friends who never use them.

I think the whole save a few hours in economy is the way to go.

Do all of the 747's have power to each seat even in economy these days?

Different to The First Lounge being asked about. Based on this go direct ex BNE.

Yep, agree.

Not as far as I know so pack a battery pack for your iDevice.

Also get up and walk around every couple of hours.

I'm hoping the SYD-LAX QF 747s do have power points, even in Y, since I'm going to be spending quite a few hours on it next month. Qantas says on its webpage that it has refitted certain of its 747s like the A380s and this seems to say that they will have PC Power and USB slots. A380 Comfort now available on our B747 fleet | Qantas

Only the newly refurbished 3 class 744 may have in seat power available in economy.

What row does economy start at?
