I don't see how putting out a question and asking for an answer to said question can be considered to be rude,

it it quite strange how people have thought that I was asking rudely about it, when I wasn't

and I understand that there are 3 options that they can choice from... I was just giving them a 4th option that they may be interested in taking up which makes something in there back pocket a little bit heavier and mine a little bit lighter

If you can't see how it is rude, I won't bother explaining.

You don't see many members (new or otherwise) come on here asking to have a stranger "gift" (gift or otherwise) them Partner Gold. Sure people may joke about being related to other members, but never serious.

hmm this forum doesn't have a trading section? whats up with that?

Im on a few other forums, probably about +30,000k posts through about 5 of them and they all have trading sections. I wouldve traded in excess of about $30,000 through them as buyer and seller.

Strange that this doesnt have a trading area

Because the owner doesn't want a trading area. It has been suggested that if you don't like it tough, that how things are run...

all im doing is just putting the idea out there, in that it can be seen as a win-win situation for both parties

and I didn't mean for it to come off in the manner as you have perceived it to be
I am not sure I see it as win-win.

Personally I think you need to meet someone before asking for something like Partner Gold.

Someone on this forum asked me for Partner Gold last year in exchange for the points. I have met them a few times and other people have also met them. I knocked back the offer. They have asked me for Partner Gold again this year. I said I will think about it but is not that simple.

If I were a plat member and you asked me I would gift it,

I am not sure I see it as win-win.

the win win comes in the form of that, the platinum member gets something that they can use anywhere, while I get gold status for a few months

so that $1,200 bucks someone spent to get the last SC's to achieve it, would have only cost them $600 bucks to achieve said SC's if they got in contact with me

They may want more than that for their PG.. and as i pointed out, you are a newbie, an unknown. I certainly would never trade off my Partner Gold with someone i hadn't met or knew.. too many what if's.

It's the owners choice not to allow buy/sell/swap. It also limits any liability too.

Im a qualified remedial massage therapist, maybe I could get rid of the stiff legs and lower back pain, after all the flying they have done to achieve WP

I'm an intelligent lay person. I know about following rules and taking a hint.

An interesting occupation considering you've rubbed a few people the wrong way here.

Hehe This is a good thread, and Pepsi Max is my favourite soft drink

Good luck trying to get someone to gift you Gold status for $600. The only way you would be able to buy at that price is through a friend or if someone was desperate for money quickly.

The value I place on 50,000 QFF points is ~$1,250 which is why I spent ~$1,200 to get Partner Gold. That does not mean if I was to sell Partner Gold that I would sell it for that amount. It would have to be at least that, possibly more.

As many of our established members have correctly indicated, AFF does not have a "Trading" section. And we have no intention of creating one.

Whilst a general discussion on the value of 100,000 points is certainly a valid one and is welcome on AFF, any attempt by a member to use this discussion to subtly (or not so) solicit is not permitted. Post in this thread have already been removed, warnings have been given and further action will be taken if necessary.

I'll give you $20 and a six pack of Emu Draught?

They are stupid and restrictive T&C's that help neither Qantas nor members. Qantas FF could be even more successful if they were smart enough to try and turn the points into another currency.

I have to disagree. IMHO QFF are making sure "points have no value" and impose such restrictions for very good reason - to ensure the loyalty scheme does not come close to anything which could be deemed to be a "financial service" and incur the obligations of licensing, regulation, FOS etc.

Or worse, be subject to FBT....

Or worse, be subject to FBT....

Which would be bad for many members, but probably no big deal for QFF, unlike the imposts regulation would place on them.

FBT remains a rather grey area, and whilst the current rules tend to keep it that way, most promotions offering points or the like tend to carry disclaimers telling participants to take their own FBT advice.

Which would be bad for many members, but probably no big deal for QFF,

Well actually it could be a big deal for QFF as well if it was bad for many members. It would instantly undermine the attractiveness of the program much moreso than any of the QF's "enhancements" over the years. At the extreme imagine having to pay marginal tax rates on a business class redemption return to the US, valued at the going commercial rate (not to say that is a realistic scenario, but it is at one end of the spectrum).
