I’m looking at trying to get to Nairobi or JRO in late December, return early Jan, ex SYD

I know it’s peak season

Are there any tricks for cheap J flights ? I looked at starting in KUL/CGK/MNL/BKK but it wasn’t hugely different to just starting in Sydney after accounting for the extra flight…

Hi Experts , we are planning to book our tickets from Melbourne to Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) for next year. Based on the research I had done , unable to find any options to book Singapore Airlines or any other star alliance partners either revenue or miles. Can anyone please help me , if I am not searching correctly or if I have to fly through a different airport to make use of the star alliance partners. At the moment , only viable option I found is Qatar but I want to see every possibility of flying on SQ metal wherever possible. Appreciate your inputs and time.

How much are you looking at QR has a sale on at the moment and leaving 24/12 and coming back in January the cheapest is ~ 11500. But same flights booking with VA is ~10800. Both use the VA wet lease planes coming back.

Though if you have Avianca Life Miles only 48000 miles BKK-NBO flying TK..
Seeing this I looked at TK cash prices and SYD-BKK-IST-NBO departing 24/12 and I just looked at 14/1 and it came back as $10,300. I didn't check any other dates so might be a little cheaper.
Other star airlines are dearer.

CGK to CAI often have good deals (and reverse). Gulf Air have been having some good fares recently too.

Awesome, how did it land price wise? We're considering ghana primarily, but are also considering kenya and/or uganda.

Best i've found so far is QR ex BKK around ~3700 AUD plus would still need positioning ex per. Would prefer OW due to WP but would prefer to fly J than get SCs.

It was about 430K points and $4K for two in J. Most importantly, it was the exact dates that I wanted as we have a series of safaris booked and had to be in NBO on Saturday 25 July 2026. Leaving PER on Wednesday, that night in HKG, then two nights in DXB.

Needless to say, I was chuffed to get this as redemptions on EK have really dried up.
