Is there any news when this partnership with BP will start ? The press release simply said early in the year

I've been searching for information too, but haven't found anything extra about when it will be released. I fuel up both my cars at our local BP already, so it will be nice to get some extra benefits from it.

I would imagine it will be sometime this month, given it gets a mention in the inflight magazine this month.

The quote from JB in this months Voyeur " In the coming months, members will be able to earn Velocity points when filling up at more than 1400 BP fuel retailers around Australia "

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

An Easter present perhaps ...... ?

Anybody else getting a bit 'feed-up' with these announcements followed by overly long lead times through to tangible implementation ?

Keeping their gun powder dry until their ready (or very nearly ready) to actually fire it may produce a bigger and more productive bang in a case like this.

The SQ transfer option happened quite late in the month it was promised. On that basis end-of-March would probably count as early 2015

Extract from an AFR article published 17 / 11 / 2014 updated 18 / 11 - interview / quote attributed to Neil Thompson - Velocity top dog. ..... for what it's worth.

Details of how Velocity members will earn points with BP will be announced before the program begins in the first quarter of next year. Mr Thompson said options included basing it on dollar spending or on the number of litres of petrol purchased.
“We did customer research ahead of this that confirmed certainly that this would be an attractive offer – not only for their customers but also for our members,” Mr Thompson said.

The reason I posted in this forum was to elicit a response from the Velocity team. Admin's posting guidelines stated that Velocity would check these threads at least every working day

Posting Guidelines **** PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING IN THIS FORUM ****

The purpose of this new forum is to allow AFF members to communicate directly with the Velocity Frequent Flyer team. The Velocity team have advised us that they will be viewing - and responding to - the threads on this forum (at least) once every business day.

Clearly this is not the case

We are almost a third the way into the 1st quarter and even if Velocity are not prepared to announce the exact date I was hoping for some sort of response regarding this partnership with BP

I am surprised about a couple of things - I assumed incorrectly it started this year - went to BP yesterday and they had not idea - not even an idea that it was coming. Found reference on BP website, but could not find anything of the Velocity site - I think by now they would be in a position to provide a start date

Why on earth would you expect someone behind the counter to know about it. They couldn't care less, unless they were the owner/franchisee of the store!

Once it starts they will receive training/point-of-sale material and then have an idea about it

Fair enough I mistakenly thought by now it might have started.

I thinks it's probably close but certainly wouldn't be the first IT integration project to have issues and take a bit longer than expected. No way I'd be announcing it was "ready" before it was actually ready, particularly if this is the case.

I chose a BP fuelcard rather than a Caltex one because of the potential to earn va points this year, so the early announcement snared a little business. (I know its not guaranteed fuelcards will earn)

A 'general' BP fuel card does not offer any discount or bonus etc., it is merely a charge card.
So if they don't offer Velocity points when you pull out your BP card that would be a bit 'rude' of them.

Still be better off using a CC and getting the double dip when this rolls around.

Mentioned on my VFF statement this month as "coming soon".

'You will soon be able to earn Points at participating BP service stations. All you will need to do is swipe your Velocity membership card at the time of purchase. More details coming soon.'

I wonder if one could earn velocity points on bulk fuel purchases? We purchase about 5000 litres per month, would be nice to earn some velocity points on that. :D just got myself an NAB Velocity platinum card to pay for the fuel as well.
