Hello everyone. long time viewer (5+ years)
about time i posted something.

my question is,
i have used my SQ(KF) points for our honeymoon flying from SYD - SIN - LAX in J class (with SQ a380 #cant wait).
i was really hoping that flying SQ i would earn more VA status credits but being a flight that i used points on im worried i wont earn all those status points with va.
can anyone confirm or deny this for me? (knowing i will be gutted that ill miss out on all those points so go easy on me) i really want to get to gold with va im currently on 200 points.

thank you to anyone who posts

In general, award tickets do not earn. (one exception would be qantas any seat awards). I assume when you say you used points you mean it was an award ticket.

As medhead mentioned, other than Qantas Any Seat Awards (which were changed from their original premise of not earning and being any seat on any flight, to earning points and SC’s), award flights rarely earn points back. If they did, nearly everyone would have status.

The only other exception is where you use credit card points to book directly with airline (ie not via airline FF program). Usually these are like using cash for cash fares, so FF earning for the fare purchased usually applies. This wouldn't apply to gcpjimmy's situation.
