Hi everyone, this is my second post but I hope not the last.

I have a doubt. When you are flying in a codeshare QF (QF number in it but operated for a different carrier), do yo recive the points corresponding to a QF operated by Qantas? For example, a flight HKG-FCO. It is a codeshare CX-QF but operated by CX. Flying CX in discount economy you received only 0.5 of the miles. Do you receive also 0.5 even if it is a codeshare QF? Or in these case the base rate is 1 because it is considered a QF? I tend to think that you will receive only the half, because in the case of BA it says that it is an exception when it happens, but it is unclear for me.

By the way, after only half a year as a QFF member I have attained QFF Gold (OW Sapphire), what I had never got with my IB plus card, and of course I am very excited waiting for my kit (I think it will arrive in some days).

I have also a question about this. Being OW Sapphire you can use the OW Lounges worldwide while using a OW airline. And in some cases you can have differente choices. For instance, I think that in Frankfut both BA, CX and IB have a Lounge. If you are flying economy, for example, IB FRA-MAD. Could you anyway use the BA or the CX Lounge. Or in this case, should yo use the IB Lounge?

Thank you very much, I enjoy a lot this forum and I am learning a lot with all of you.

If you are ticketed on the QF flight number, then you earn the Status Credits and FF points as per any QF flight.

You can only use a lounge if it is a OneWorld lounge. In FRA, CX use a partner lounge for their passengers just prior to the departure, so its not really a CX lounge and hence not available to oneWorld Sapphire/Emerald member flying with other OneWorld Airlines. This is the same with the QF lounge at FRA, which is actually the Delta Crown Room and hence not a real Qantas lounge and only available to QF passengers 3 hours before the evening departure of QF6. I am not familiar with the IB lounge at FRA so can't comment as to its eligibility for access under the OneWorld benefits.

So you need to ensure the lounge is actually operated by the OneWorld airline and not just a partner lounge that they rent for the few hours prior to their departure.

Is the BA/QF business lounge in singapore considered a OW lounge?

Does that mean me being a QFgold/OW Sapphire, can use this lounge when taking any OW airline? eg flying CX out of singapore?

thanks

The Singapore Lounge is operated by BA/QF and so can be used when travelling CX out of SIN in the same way that when at HKG you can use the CX lounge when travelling BA

Indeed - that is one of the good things about QFF. Some other programs (eg LH) base it off operating carrier in which case codeshares are a waste of time from FF perspective.

I am curious about lounge access in CDG. I am departing on QF3978 to Singapore (Qantas code share, but AF plane).

If I am QF platinum, what are my best lounge options in CDG?

There is no Qantas Club in CDG. There are no OneWorld Lounges in CDG either. The lounge used by BA is actually an AF lounge and is not a BA lounge so you have no access unless flying with BA on a BA flight number in Club class.

So I expect there will not be any lounge access available to you. If you are travelling in business class then QF may have a deal with AF to use their lounge for premium cabin customers, but your OneWorld Emerald status will not get you into any lounge since its not a OneWorld operated flight and there is no OneWorld lounge available.

Just wondering - I had a AA flight from LAX to Dallas that wasnt a code share - it was definitely just an AA flight (travelling "First" class). I then connected on to an American Eagles flight Dallas to Pittsburgh. I have seen that my SYD-LAX status credits and FF points have hit my Qantas FF account - just wondering a) will I get any status credits for the second two legs and b) whether I get any FF points for the second legs at and when they will hit.

Cheers

Why wouldn't you get points? IF you travelled on an AA sector in F ( and were not using an upgrade ) the system should credit with F status credits and F miles. On the ickle beagle flight, it will credit as economy with economy status credits with a min earning of 500

Dave

Thanks for that - I am intrigued to see what appears. I guess the "delay" in getting the points recognised is that its AA and I assume AA have to tell Qantas about my flights.

Cheers

It does take several days ime for AA flights to post to QF. Indeed, AA does have to tell QF about the flights taken. If they haven't appeared in a week or so I would be contacting QF.

Fax/email a copy of ticket and boarding passes and QFF will sort out the miles/SCs

Dave

Thanks - I will be doing a lot of wrapping up and checking at the end of this assignment so this will be one of the jobs - I already have a folder full of boarding passes, baggage stubs, receipts and eft slips.....

Just checked and the flights have hit :D This includes the status credits - interestingly I am now not too far away from gold - should get that with my return flight (250credits) and my flight to SIN in August :D

One thing though that people might be able to answer. I didnt get a cabin bonus for travelling "First Class" on my LAX-DALLAS flight - is that normal?

Cheers

As per the QFF Airline Earning Table, if you were booked in A, P or F class, that is not normal.

Your AA BP should show the booking class.

On an AA flight in First Class you should get cabin bonus of 50% points, and you should get status bonus (25% for Silver). But if you are on the QF codeshare operated by AA, you may be booked into D or J and even though sitting in First Class you only get 25% cabin bonus as QF sell it as business class.

Certainly not a QF codeshare:

As I posted before, locate the booking class F, A or P on your LAX-DFW BP then call QFF.

Online, it should have shown something like this (as a PS):
Code:
Date Description Base Cabin Status Total Status
                                      points bonus bonus points credits

99 JUN 06 AA 999 FIRST 09JUN06 LOS 1,231 616 308 2,145 120
           ANGELES/DALLAS

Thanks again for that. After a few 14 hour days I finally tracked down my boarding pass. It says I was in A class (seat 1E on a 757). I checked my account transaction history at Qantas on line and it only has me logged as travelling Economy for that leg of the journey.

Looks like a call to Qantas when I get back to Oz....

Just trying to get my head around all of this.

Does this mean that a codeshare flight SYD-SGG which is on jetstar, but has a QF flight number if i book it as one ticket from MEL (with QF connection) will earn points and SC's as any other QF flight would? There is also this situation with flights MEL - SFF operated by Vietnames Airlines having QF numbers, i assume these too earn in the same manner? this appears to mean that jetsaver v. jetflex fares are no longer relevant if it is a codeshare with QF number?

Am i right to assume that to get points & SC's on these cheap fares (red edeals) i am best to go with these codeshares rather than flying with CX on a L fare which i gather only earns 0.5 pts per mile?

Grateful for any assistance

I always tend to end up on AEagle flights in the US and they have always posted (points and SC). As Dave mentioned, often take quite a few days to post.

Further to my last,

this is the info as appears when i searched MEL - SGG going from SYD - SGG on J* but with QF flight number, with regard to the meals, AVOD & comfort packs etc that J* sell, would all this be included because it has a QF number or would i still have to pay extra for all this?
