Couldn't find an answer on this on the Velocity website or by search on AFF.

Do you earn points on the "pay" portion of a "points + pay" booking?

If you do earn, lets say you book two tickets as part of the booking - are the points worked off the "pay" component and split/divided between two velocity accounts on the booking?

Also, what about status credits?

Boo!! Mind you, im not surprised - would be tricky to calculate. Not overly worried as the $330 "pay" component for husband and I wouldn't really mean much anyway.

Thanks for replying.

I was hoping that with the Velocity revamp that you might earn points on Any Seat awards and Points + Pay (like you do with QF) but unfortunately not. For Virgin domestic it would be easy to calculate - each fare is calculated separately so you'd just earn 5 points per $1 on the pay component. Maybe it's another change yet to come!

Oh well, my regular flights with DJ are MEL-SYD returns on full Flexi fares or PE, so I'm earning at least 3 times the points on each flight as I would with QF anyway, which makes up for the lack of points on any seat awards.

It would be nice if points were earned across the board whatever you spend on. Points + Pay, Blue Zone, change fees, meals, whatever.

Earning no points on the extras is my biggest complaint about Velocity, I'm not a lounge member so normally would have a lounge entry and a blue zone on every segment.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Maybe on your next trip Cain, you can do the Points+Pay thingo and get return to perth in Business class for next to nothing... that way you get lounge and better-than-blue-zone seating... and when it's that cheap, who cares about points and SC's :)

I have thought about it Hayden, but would rather put it towards an overseas trip, the only real benefit at the moment would be to have the luggage allowance to take the prams over for mum
