What airline is CI & NW? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am new to this.

And what airport does DTW & TPE stand for?
And is TYO - Tokoyo and SEA - Seattle?

With visiting all these places to get to the final destination - is there more flying time involved? Is it REALLY worth $$$$ wise to do what looks to be 'the milk run'. I don't mind the itinerary now but will we be absolutely buggered when reaching Miami going to all these places? You could look at it another way - it may be good for the legs to go from one plane to another.

Hi Aussiecruiser

CI=CHina Airlines, NW Northwest, DTW=Detroit, TPE=Taipei
I guess its a case of looking at the time frames versus the $$$, Guess thats up to you. I think from memory it was about $400+ cheaper per person and no overnight stays required (other than an overnight flight) - yes it probably is longer - but without overnight on return in Hawaii.... and yes sometimes I think its better to break the journey for a healthier flight - IMO. But ultimately, for some its price v time.....
If you want more details...just PM me.....
Cheers

Well guess what ! FC just came to the party with a deal of $2513 :D for my itinerary (excluding Key West flight to Miami). Only downfall is that we will have to stay in Honolulu '2' nights because flights don't leave from Honolulu daily. I suppose we can put up with 2 nights there.

So do all agree I should do the deal?

BTW - I really appreciate all the assistance everyone here has provided me because I have been spending hours/days trying to come up with the best fares for our trip.

I would like to repay your kindness, however there is not much 'I' can do for you (unless you want some cruising advice:p ) however I can get my husband who is a finance specialist to provide you with his services at no cost. If you might be looking for honest, no bulls*$t advice with regards to home loan finance etc, I know he has helped many people save many many $$$$$$. Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] for more details.

Hi Aussie Cruiser
At the expense of being proved wrong (twice in one thread) I have attempted to replicate the details you provided and if you have these flights confirmed and the price quoted inclusive of tax - then it is an exceptional deal and I'll tell you why....
As per the FC web site the fare is based on an HA airfare from brisbane to Los Angeles and San Diego to Brisbane. The fares is calculated as 1/2 of each return since San Diego is more expensive than Los Angeles. The base fare works out at $1995 plus tax of $428. Added to this are the AA flights and they would have to be based on published fares since no other fare type (except perhaps web based fares which MAY be similar) exists at A$507.20 making the total fare $2931 and if you remove the taxes - $2503 - very close to the figure you are quoting.... plus 3 nights in Honolulu for connection.....
*** as I say - if the fare quoted is inclusve - book, pay and ticket now ****
Alternatively you could go back to just using the most direct flights as per the following:
QF 175 V 14SEP BNELAX 1105 0700
QF 3131 V 14SEP LAXMIA 0925 1720
OPERATED BY AMERICAN AIRLINES
AA 1818 N 04OCT MIADFW 1220 1425
AA 1961 N 04OCT DFWSAN 1623 1723
QF 3018 V 20OCT SANLAX 1840 1930
OPERATED BY AMERICAN EAGLE FOR AMER
QF 176 V 20OCT LAXBNE 2320 *0605
Fare - $2970 per person including taxes
  • Approx 17,950 QF Frequent flyer points
  • Approx 150 Qantas Status Credits
  • No overnight flights
  • No transits via Sydney
Hope you can do the deal you have been quoted....
Cheers
