Compared to 47% gin it is very low alcohol. Actually compared to 40% vodka it's still low alcohol.

But you dont usually drink 100ml+ of gin or vodka cf Champagne.

I can easily have 6-8 bloody marys or gin and tonics without blinking an eyelid. You normally wouldn't drink a bottle of champagne.

How about we look at the numbers. A standard 150ml pour of Champagne at 12% is 1.4 standard drinks. A shot of vodka, either straight or in a mixed drink at 40% is 1 standard drink. The Champagne pour also contains more standard drinks than the 47% gin pour.

Not if I mixed them.;)
Do you what I do? Doubles and triples?

Never forget the time in June where we went to my wifes village for BBQ. I had half a bottle or more of duty free gin left over and mixed it into 600 mL water bottles with lemon lime orange mineral water. I know that sounds weird but it's actually a nice taste. Starting cooking and drinking after 1:00pm and by 4:00pm I passed out. Woke up again around 8:00pm not feeling well. Didn't realise that gin was 47% alcohol. Not my finest hour.

Well at 2.48am we have a cough doing burnouts down our street because he can. Rather than throw a rock at his windscreen I am glad that I have mellowed thru the use of champers and red wine.
It's ok he will slide off the road and be furious that he has hit a light pole or a tree and we can pay to patch his body up.
If only we could really put his genitals on top of his head.....

buy him a polo neck sweater, .......so he can hide his circumcision scar

For me it very much depends on what I need to do onboard and if I'm driving.
Early domestic flights I never drink alcohol. Early long haul I will definitely have Champagne if I don't need to work. Sometimes I do but I try my best to finish off work in the lounge or keep it until I arrive.

Sometimes I get onboard a flight and think "It's going to be way too early to have a drink" but I have zero willpower in these circumstances if I'm not working and I see the alcohol free flowing to those around me  :D
I'm also a sucker for vintage Champagne so will rarely pass that up and can nearly always find an excuse to have some :D

I guess it depends on ones definition of 'early' - like is 00:45 in morn early or late in day coz you no sleepy yet?

And similarly is 01:30 early or late by same definition?

Either way 20:35 in Rio would be a totally civilised time for a coughtail or 3 don't you think?

And said coughtail - PH rare to be precise:

Apologies for for pic orientation - no I was not 'on my ear' when pic shot - some day someone might just teach me hoe to orientate these pics on iPad prior to posting.

Krug is still my favourite CE. I will probably get it on 4 sets of flights in 2016....first world problem.... So ignore the clock....
