Not sure if this is new, old or what, but I've just booked an early special discounted room.

Booked for Chrismas day (and some) Hilton SP residences (3 bedroom) normal rate - $609/nite, A.P - $487.20/nite but this early purchase is similar to the AP (ie non flexible) but only 30% deposit on booking and includes full buffet breakfast (which we had as diamond regardless) but at $454.30/nite.

Given Christmas lunch at a restaurant would cost us about $100/head for 6 of us, we booked two days for just over $900.......no mess at our place, pools, BBQs, views and exec lounge along with full breakfasts seems like a pretty good deal.

I'd never heard of this Early Purchase special before. Must be booked 3months + out from stay.

(So now we fly from HSW, one nite at home then HSP for 2 nites).

It's showing for me that there is no availability on Christmas Day at HSP. Weird.

Might be a min stay requirement of two nights.

They have varying minimum night requirements over the Christmas/New Year period.........unless you're diamond ;). Telephone the HH Desk and they seem to override minimum night requirements.

I've found that it is a two night minimum, yes. Thank you guys. I am HH Diamond as well, but can't get it to do a single night on the website - and given I'm not staying there, I won't bother calling the Diamond Desk!

No, the web site doesn't seem to acknowledge status like a real person can do. The "Early Special" I'm referring to, is also not available on the web site. I only knew about it as I originally just wanted Christmas day and couldn't book it on line. Actually, I was thinking about a day use rate, but not even the diamond desk could wrangle that one for Chrissie day. But they could do a single day for me, but on reflection.....and the bit better price, I decided to do the two nights. The Great Getaway rate was also not available.

It makes me wonder how many times Hilton have special rates available, that don't show on the web site? I note they have the ability to enter a special/promotion code, but if you don't know it, you can't enter it. I might start ringing all the time now to check any special deals going!

Isn't that what "yield management" is all about? :)
