We will be flying out from Sydney on June 6 to LHR.

Our son will be dropping us at the airport in the morning around 11am, our flight departs at 3.50pm. What is the earliest time that we can check in?

Thankyou RooFlyer.

I tried to google it but reports talk about a trial back in 2014/2015 but didn't say if it continued. Just information on checkin closing times.
We have lounge passes from our credit card so hope to make use of them.

Hope someone comes in and confirms! I recall the trial was made permanent, but fallable memory ...

Can confirm. In SYD you'll be able to check in any time on the day of your flight.

We are booked to leave SYD on QF81, 31/7 @ 1025. We would like to check in early, say 0700 to be able to make use of the Qantas lounge for breakfast & to refresh. We are driving down from Newcastle & will leave home @ approx. 0500. For us to check in any time, do we need to go to the counter indicated on the departure board, which only seems to open 2 hours before flight, or is there a general area for "any time check in" ?
My wife will also leave 6/9 @ 0600 on a QF codeshared Emirates flight & would also like to freshen up & have breakfast before this flight, so will be handy to know.
Thank you for any advice.

Unlike other ports Qantas at SYD has all day check in starting from 4am.

That is you can check in at, say, 6am for a 4pm flight.

If in economy and no status, the counter can vary, but there are dedicated counters at row D for First/Emerald, Business/Sapphire PAX.

With an EK operated flight your wife will need to check in with Emirates; given the timing I suspect it opens 4am.

Qantas definitely have dedicated counters for Premium Economy (PE), Business (J) and First (F) on one side and Economy (Y) on the other side. If I'm not mistaken, I believe it's in Check in rows E

I note that the Qantas site states, ‘If you're travelling to the United States of America, you can find your flight's check-in area on the information screens located throughout the departures area.’

Does anybody know if this affects all day check in for F pax?

Can F pax travelling to the USA check in at the First Check In Suite located at the end of the northern side of check-in counter D?

Just so you know, you need to check in with Emirates, not Qantas for this flight.

Also being the first flight of the day, if you show up at 0200 (why on Earth would you want to do that?) I doubt anything will be open. The Qantas lounges don’t open until 0500.
