Hi all, I am booked on EK406 DXB-MEL departing 10:05 am 6 May in F. I will be arriving in DXB late evening on the 4 May on a separately ticketed flight also with EK but in Y 😳. My plan is to collect bags and stay at a nearby hotel on arrival, and on checkout on the 5th head back to the airport around midday to check in for my F flight on the 6th. I have booked the DXB International airside hotel for the night of the 5th.

Does anyone have any experience/knowledge in checking in and clearing security etc in DXB roughly 24 hours before the flight. My somewhat silly reasoning for doing this is twofold. Whilst I have been through DXB a number of times in recent years I haven’t really explored the airport plus I would like to get the full dining/drinking experience of the Flounge (and the other lounges) plus have somewhere comfortable to go to for rest/naps (ie the airside hotel).

If this is not possible would I be better off trying to get the flights connected and staying airside the whole time. The Y flight to DXB is a cash fare and the F fight to MEL is QF reward booking.

FYI the DXB International Hotel said I can do this but I have read differing opinions on various forums.

Thanking you all in advance.

I have checked in at the airport and cleared security/passport around 13 hours before departure

Remember to book a massage first when you get to the F lounge (I think Concourse A or B)
