Hi All. I'm WP flying MEL-SYD-SIN-LHR next week. (In F on the Intl part) I have 2.5 hours for the connection in SYD, but would like a bit more of a buffer as I have some Tax Refund stuff to sort out etc. I called QF and they said to change the domestic leg, they'd have to reticket / reprice the whole thing. I don't want to do that as I booked this earlier in the year when the first DSC promotion was being run and actually got a decent fare as it was before things kicked off with Iran. If I rock up early to MEL, do you think they'd look favourably at checkin to move me onto an earlier service, like they do during busy periods on domestics? Cheers

Depends on the seat availability at the time you approach the counter to ask for fly-ahead AND if QF is doing fly-ahead for that portion of the trip.

From experience, I have had 100% success in requesting a fly-ahead when the ticket is as part of an international itinerary.

Just realised this is your first post - welcome to AFF, @Astonmj :)

Same here, as WP, didnt have too much issue flying ahead. Need to explain why, need to explain I ll still reach destination qt the same time, and once I had to say this was approved in the past, the agent made a call and got an immediate yes.
Hopefully you get an experience checkin agent.

I’m a third confirming that as a WP I’ve never had any issues getting an earlier domestic flight if there were seats available.

Make that a fourth! Just ask nicely at checkin and they will almost always oblige.
