Does anyone know of any current duty free specials? I'd like to try and take advantage of them on my way to Japan, or on my way home...

Which brings me to another question.

The limit is stated as 3x750ml

So does that mean the bottles can't be larger than 750ml (of which most are 1L.....) or that the combined total is allowed to be 2.25L ? (this is going INTO Japan, not Australia, as I know the limit for Aus is just a flat 2.25L)

Japan is the same as OZ , that is 2.25L total of alcohol! Bit higher on smokes, at 400 rather than 250!

It's a TOTAL of 2¼ Litres of Alcoholic beverage, whether beer, Schnapps, Wine, Spirits etc ...

Can be 2 x 1 Litre bottles and 5 x 50ml bottles - or any combination of quantity/volume that adds up to no more than 2¼ litres..

Last question, for all you folk that have been to Japan is are there any tips/tricks like NZ? e.g. NZ you can sign up to the frequent buyer club (free) and get an auto 5-20% off depending upon what you are purchasing.

Are there any like that in NRT? And am I better purchasing on my way into NRT, online, rather than outgoing from Australia or purchasing from the store itself e.g. not pre-ordering in NRT?

Japan has very cheap spirits particularly whiskey. Somewhere like Biccamera in Ginza or Shinjuku can offer you a good price, often better than duty free stores. Biccamera also offers tax free shopping.

Check out the prices on your way into Japan and if they are better then just buy on your way home.

Guess that makes perfect sense..

We always buy French champagne in Japan. Much, much cheaper than here, and generally a better range (even at National Azabu)
