After almost a month I have avoided using the Visa for Half the Kris Flyer points since 15th March.
I still use the Amex point and a half Amex card where Amex is taken but the Visa was a bigger and more easily used card.
Half a point a dollar cut outside the anniversary date for the Visa card was pretty mean spirited so my love affair with it is over.
Has anyone else done the same as I would like a few entries to mail off to my personal Westpac banker in the faint hope that they will re-consider?

Cove have done exactly the same - last 4 mths I averaged 28K spend on the Visa component - as of March 15 -> zilch / zero / nada.

I too will be calling Westpac to point this out post next staement date - the fockers.

I've cut back on SQ Visa charges but my dilemma is which alternative to use, other than SQ AMEX.

The other day, I had choice of using Visa card at 1% merchant fee vs. Amex at 2.75%. Of course, and reluctantly, I chose Visa with its 0.5 miles per $ earn rate.

Now considering Citi's Select card.

I have done the same. My card is about 10 days away now from anniversary so will be calling them to cancel then.
As an alternative for the Visa I went for the Citibank Platinum. Not perfect but the 60k points (40k KF) was a good incentive for me to take it this year until I find a better option for next year.

Went the Amex Platinum Edge for Amex but also looking at the Platinum card for the 75K points.

That Visa card is no longer in my two credit card wallets and is now in the back stalls of my travel bag.
I have Woolworths EDR MasterCard and CitiSelect Visa (uncapped points) to replace that Westpac Visa. Woolworths is for QF points and Citi is for Kris points.
I still use the Amex version of the Westpac card so when it comes to renewing I will do the previously unthinkable........and ask for the annual fee to be reduced.
In those 14 days leading up to the benefit halving I did put thru more than $250k on the visa as Kris points are just so good.

Is the Amex/QF 75K points deal still on? I thought you had to apply by 31 March this year & of course I forgot. It was about $900.00 but some people got some or all of the fee waived. It also included a 'free' return ticket on DJ or QF - I forget which, plus membership to that club whose name escapes me right now but gets you into DJ's The Lounge.

How much for the Citibank Platinum Card BTW?

I got EDR for QF early this year, and was just approved for Citi Plat.

Both were taken up after reading through AFF posts (Thanks! :) )

Moving regular payments away from West KF but will use it for a July OS trip as the OS Visa points are higher. It will be cancelled before the next anniversary.

Very disappointing.

The Mex Platinum offer for 75K points I believe is valid through September 2011. Not sure about getting the fee waived first up though but yes its $900. It comes with a Platinum Reserve card also. The return ticket is with DJ.

The Citibank card is $250. Not good value without the free points but you do get some interesting perks such as free bottle of wine at certain restaurants.
