Dubai Hotel info please

First time in Dubai with a Stopover of 2 nights during late August.Can anyone share their knowledge of a hotel recommendation and which area of the Dubai is best.My wife wants to shop till she drops and I will probably do a couple of tours.Would prefer 5 star hotel but am open to suggestions.Thanks in advance.

As you have to catch a taxi in Dubai to do anything I would recommend any of the hotels along Sheikh Zayed road. You have the Mall of the Emirates to the west, Wafi Centre and the gold souk to the east and there are a number of bars and restaurants in walking distance.

If you can avoid the Maktoum Bridge in Deira early in the morning and late in the afternoon you time will be better spent. This is conjested with labourers travelling between Sharjah & Dubai.

If you are looking at doing something different try the Nad Al Sheba stable tours. The breakfast alone is worth the price.
