Dubai Connect

Seems a lot of stuffing around getting from and to the airport in DXB for a 8-12hr stay. We did that once but now just stay in the airport hotel, which is above the EK lounges, then go to F lounge for dinner and breakfast.

Note that Dubai Connect (free hotel and transfers) is only available if you take the first available connecting flight in DXB. You can't decide to take a later flight out of DXB. Well you can but then there's no free hotel.

I'm on the next flight, so I'm pretty hopeful that the info on QF MMB is accurate.

We have a J QF awards booking on EK Sydney-USA later in the year. We did not fancy the long 'direct' linked flight so opted for A380 flight the following morning, giving us a night in Dubai.(Within the 24hrs window)
Now the QF MMB is telling us we are entitled to the Dubai Connect, and lets us enter it into the system????
You seem to get no written confirmation from QF, and are told you will get the details of your room booking on the SYD-DBX flight.
We are not on the next available flight, so we should not qualify, but QF are telling us we do.
Do we risk the booking does hold (or exists), or book somewhere else?

I've also had Dubai connect when not on the first available connection. I didn't take it up though.

The rules are that you must book the first available connection in the same fare class as your chosen fare class, not CoS. For example, this means if there's a L class seat available on the next connection and you do not take it, then you do not qualify for Dubai Connect. If however the next available connection does NOT have L class, and the second available connection does AND it is more than 6/8 hours (depending on CoS) out, then you are eligible.

I can't go back and check the booking we didn't make so I can't say if this was what made me eligible.
But, when does Dubai Connect normally show up in MMB?
If you're falling within the published rules, I would expect it to show up and be available immediately?
In my case, it popped up as being available in the week before departure.

Interesting. Just booked a MAD - BNE as QF code share and choose the 380s for both flights, arriving at 12:35 DXB and departing at 10:25. Despite the fact that there is an earlier flight at 2:35am, we're still offered a Dubai Connect on the QF connection (on EK metal). When we've done this before on EK tickets, we were refused the DC option because it wasn't the first available flight.

Interesting indeed.

I'm thinking however that staying in the airport hotel, even if we have to pay, is much easier! ;)
