Hi. I logged onto a booking from PER to BME in December which was booked in J but has been downgraded to Y as it looks QF no longer run a J sector on this route . (This was booked using AA miles.)

Do you think I would be entitled to any compensation from QF in this instance?

You best bet may be with AAdvantage as they ticketed it.

If this was the only sector, they may be able to refund the AAdvantage miles difference.

Is this a standalone PER-BME sector, or booked as part of a longer itinerary?

Unfortunately I don't imagine you'll get very far with this. But you could always try calling AA and seeing what they have to say. (I wouldn't bother contacting Qantas as you didn't make the booking through them.)

I went to BME last year on an AA award as well. On the way there, only Y was available but I still had to pay the full J points as I was connecting from another J flight. I couldn't even use the J lounge in PER.

As an aside, it's disappointing that they've dropped J on this route. I flew J on the return flight to PER, and had a great flight. The J cabin was 100% full, too. Perhaps the catering limitations ex BME have something to do with the decision? QF had to get the J meals provided by the Cable Beach Resort for the BME-PER sector as they don't/can't do their own catering ex BME.

Couldn't they just load the catering for the return sector in PER?

No idea... that's just what the CSM said when I flew BME-PER.

I believe the economy catering is double-loaded in PER.

Thanks for the replies. It was booked AKL-BNE-BME prior to the devaluation. Looks like will just have to wear it. ðŸ

From 1 Dec only one class B717 or F100 are on this route. Not a prime time to visit Broome therefore aircraft downsizing. Looking at next year apart from a Saturday flight starting May, there are no 738 in sight.

Yeah the whole of WA, KTA, PHE and BME seem to be copping massive downgrades to the sardine 717 or ancient F100. Least the Fokker has decent legroom just a shame the seats are original dull grey vinyl with no headrests. Shame they don't bring in the 717 they have over east with Business and Ipads in economy.

But those Fokkers need a interior overhaul especially the prices QF gouges us for some of the sectors in WA.

An interior overhaul would probably see you lose the current seat pitch in the F100

Yeah QF said in the recent ASX announcement that 737 would be removed from a lot of WA routes as more Fokkers come online.

Thats the issue with QF I guess, they could whack a few more seats in. Apparently there is a couple running around with new seats in them.....so maybe theres hope yet!
