On check-in I asked if I could have breakfast in the lounge or main restaurant. Was told either was fine. I didn’t read the letter properly until the next afternoon so innocently rocked up to the main restaurant and upon querying if I wanted to go to the lounge I let the attendant know I had been told to come here. So I wasn’t charged anything. Feel a bit guilty about that.
I’m a fan of the lounge too, the white/black marble and timber theme made the lounge look very classy. I still go back to Parmelia at times as no one could be as nice as Jono! :)
I’ve had all my breakfast at the main restaurant and was never questioned nor charged. I can’t comment if the additional $19 is worth it as I haven’t seen the breakfast spread in the lounge. The one in the main restaurant is adequate, I would say quite similar to the offerings at DT Mel.

Hopefully it will remain nice and quiet. And agree, it feels far classier than a lot of supposed high end hotels’ lounges.
I was only at breakfast one morning for maybe 30 minutes but two people came in and asked about the $19 breakfast so it is a thing. That said, I didn’t see anyone signing bills or making payment the entire time.

How does breakfast work for a gold member? I am going there in June as a gold member and as gold member don't get lounge access, do they temporarily allow gold member to enter the lounge just for breakfast?

I am in the same boat, maybe they'll do what Sydney does and allow Gold in the lounge for breakfast only?

Open slather for Dia at bfast on ground floor this morn - not even a mention of any charge of any type.

Cricket - the staff in all areas of hotel just fantastic! Alanya on Reception (delivering luggage / receiving and printing emails etc) - Laura in Exec Lounge - Zee and Holly at brekky - just gorgeous kids

I could get totally relaxed in Exec Lounge tonight - I have the footy on:

And they even provide footy food:

And get these - make your own mini bruschetta:

I’ll be sending these pics to the Ette - she is going to need to lift her game for Friday nts footy at home!

Edit: Shame it’s such a pox game - it better improve

So why has nobody mentioned the FABULOUS menswear store directly opposite Doubletree Northbridge?
Never even noticed it but guessed I could be excused for not looking for menswear. Is it to the left /right/in of the real dodgy shop right across the road from DT? ;)

This was what I saw, back in January, across from the entrance to the DT, a few days after it had opened:

But those shops seems to be the exception not the rule?

Crikey I never took you for a prude Aeolus? Adult shops all over the world and they are legal - come on spill the beans - you did venture in for a look didn’t you? (Your secret is safe with me :D)

Just around corner from DT is Northbridge Brewing Co - at check-in they will give you a voucher for a ‘freebie’ tasting paddle of 5 of their beers then you can make an informed decision - here they are:

So see the prices? A midi is $6.70 or $6.80 - now see the pizza menu:

They range in price from $19.00 to $22.00 - BUT - buy a midi of beer and you get any pizza for $4.00 - yep you read right - a midi for $6.70 + pizza $4.00 = $10.70 - order the pizza on its own and you shell out $22.00 - same pizza - no smaller - UFB - it still has me scratching my head!

I hear you asking was the pizza any good? For $4 it was delicious!!! :D

Fri nt was just a zoo in Northbridge - all bars chockers with kids - finding a civilised restaurant where you could drink and dine in peace not so easy - I ate at Home Page - Sorrento Restaurant which is 100 mtrs up James St from DT - turn right out front door and straight ahead - really quite acceptable and would definitely return - food and service both good.

Off to the ‘Derby’ this eve so no Exec Club tonight and NFI where I will eat post game - still won’t be any shortage of places to try in NB that is for sure.

Checked out of DT now but wanted to post how totally impressed I was by their service level in all areas which made it such an enjoyable stay. Staff I encountered in all areas just could not have been more professional and helpful.

When I originally tried to book it showed Wed Apr 10 as unavailable - turns out there was a tourism conference group staying there and basically booked whole hotel - Dia status (NFI why I am still Dia as have not stayed in a H for over 2 years) enabled a release of a room which I booked at $270 - next 4 nts I got on a promo rate $104 nt prepaid - ok so proceeded.

Turns out I changed Rdpt flt to today and ret home a day earlier than planned - ok so kiss a nts Accom rate goodbye.

No no - at checkout this morn staff picked up I am checking out day early and volunteered to refund a nts Accom rate - FANTASTIC.

No onsite parking but DT have parking agreement with CPP for discounted rate $24 day - so I needed 5 days = $120 - they can only arrange max 3 days any tix so I needed 3 days + 2 days - first day I tried to exit car park I pushed wrong buttons and was charged $41.50 to Card instead of $72.00 - went back to Reception on return that day and explained to Alanya on front desk - she imm contacted them to follow up - next morn leaving she assures me all good

Not the case - as I tried to exit I was charged another 2 amts $12 + $16 but just have to proceed cause the day has to start. Back to Reception on return and other staff said see Alanya in morn she has it in hand.

Next morn see Alanya and she has arranged it all with CPP - car wasn’t going to be used at all Sat so at checkout Sun I was to see Reception on dep and they would arrange call to CPP office to fix it with bal payable only $26.50. So we proceeded down this path and when I called CPP from car park they advised I owe $2 only - paid and departed.

Alanya is just a STAR - she could not be more helpful. Tiny little Zee in ground level restaurant is also a STAR - just brilliant service ably assisted by Holly - both of them looked after me each day. Secret to coffee - tell them coffee machine coffee is not hot enough and ask for HOT coffee - barista will then make it from real coffee machine in street front bar.

Exec Lounge is really good - it just ticks all the boxes.

Another huge + is the proximity to Perth Station - literally a 3 min walk and you are there - 3 stops to Optus Oval - indeed on return last nt I got a Perth Express with no stops - just perfect!

DT is no 5* hotel but for my stay was perfect - location on NB suited me fine - will def return.

Tks to all previous contributors who assisted me in choosing DT

I just had an exceptional stay at the Parmelia but I will be returning to the DT for sure. It's a great hotel and I hope they can keep it up.

any gold member can share their experience on elite recognition?
Might be too late for you but I asked the lovely Alanya (who really is a gem) what Gold benefits are. She advised all Golds get access to the Exec Lounge. Breakfast in the lounge, but can have in the restaurant if breakfast is your selected MyWay benefit. Upgrades happen but are not as frequent or good as for Diamonds.

Pretty good for Golds I reckon. I kind of wish more offered it given how steep it is to get Gold these days (in my opinion). But I have noticed the lounge getting busier so I wonder if this will remain the case forever. And I’d be surprised if the Parmelia offered it when (if?) it’s lounge opens.

Just got back from my trip and confirm Gold gets breakfast in the restaurant and also full lounge access for breakfast and canapes. I was upgraded one level from the base room to the higher floor room.

When i was there on the WA long weekend the lounge was empty on the 3 nights I was there. There was perhaps no more than 4 group each night and even less in the morning.
