Received the same today. It is a pity but my travel is booked too far out to benefit from these sort of offers. I already have a SYD-LHR booking for late May sorted with BA. If you are watching VA/DJ I need to book a UK trip for April 2013 and I need to be in Orlando in late April 2013. ;)

Hi forum, first time posting here...

I received email too, but the T&Cs don't state when travel needed to be booked by, it is only the travel dates. I assume this means any per-booked travel auto-receives offer if travel is simply between mentioned dates? I also assume that it is F/F points, not bonus status?

[h=3]Terms and Conditions[/h]*This offer is valid for members who travel on eligible flights operated by Virgin Australia or Etihad Airways between Sydney and Abu Dhabi. Eligible flights are flights on which Points can be earned, and booked in a fare class that normally accrues Points. Single or return sectors qualify, flown in either direction. The Double Points bonus will be applied to base Points only, and any applicable tier bonus will not attract extra Points as a result of this offer. The Double Points bonus will be applied to the originally purchased fare class, and any complimentary upgrades will not attract extra Points as a result of this offer. Travel must occur between 26 April 2012 and 30 June 2012, inclusive....

I think your assumption is correct . Those members that receive the email & travel between 26th April & 30th June 2012 are eligible regardless of when the travel was booked. In regards to points , my take is that you will receive double points on the base points only , before any applicable status tier bonus is applied.

First time poster here, too!

I do hope this is correct, have PE booked to AUH and Economy with Etihad onto LHR early may, fly back early june. And as a leisure flyer, really looking forward to it! The one question I have is probably more related to fare class with the AUH-LHR leg with Etihad. This leg of the trip is listed on my ticket as a "V Saver" with a H fare code. Will I be earning points at a Velocity rate for H class (0.75), or at an Etihad rate (1 point)? At any rate, can't complain if these points are doubled!

Bugger I got this too. I just booked SQ to FRA for May in J. Was tossing up between SQ & EY but timings worked slightly better for me with SQ.

coughpy earn on SQ compared to this promo too but SCs are the same I think so that's all I'm worried about.

Might have to try to score a work trip to AUH before June is over...

I saw this...I have a trip to London coming up in May, so will have to divert my flight through Sydney :-/

Ive set myself the task of no more incessant whining about DJ's total loss of interest in their "previous" important flyers.........so I'll shut my mouth :-|

Jeez mate. You really do have no luck with these. I'm also a loyal long term VFF and seem to be getting most of them - not all.

Stupid question: but are you sure you haven't opted out of receiving special offers in your Velocity preferences?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Ha, got you both!

I cannot tell a lie.......I got the offer. My "no incessant whining" bit was in fact an incessant whine that the offer didn't suit moi!

I'm a dom flyer through and through. Last.....in fact only, int flt with DJ was the mammoth jaunt OOL-AKL-OOL . I'd love to mix it up with you int guys and girls but It's unfortunately, not me!

Double points? I've got heaps as it stands and I don't want to use them so I get more SCs (well up until recently that is). Point burn has now been torched. SCs would be nice to attempt plat, but do I get double SC offers (multiple), no......I get the chook in the chook raffle. SYD-AUH.......thanks a million. I might one day get to AUH, but it's a safe bet for DJ that it won't be before June.

But hey, back to my new and improved outlook on my flying future........thank you so much DJ for remembering me (with an offer that's right up there with a bonus tooth abscess with every new filling). No, no.......stop the incessant whining, there's always the door prize at the Christmas in June weekend at the Surfers Hilton to look forward to!

PS........Tongue firmly in cheek........I'm really not that prissy.......honest

Received it - pity it's one of the very few regions in the world that I hope I never have to travel through or to.

~Doh! Should've read Swanning_it's response first... but it still might apply to others ~

I was going to mention the Velocity email preferences also. I'm a lowly peasant Silver & I've received all the Velocity offers going around the past few months, most likely (I'm guessing) because I have opted in for all the special offer emails.

The latest SYD-AUH email offer has this as a footer:
You have received this message because you are a member of Velocity Frequent Flyer and are subscribed to Travel Partner Offers communications.

:)

I wonder if the 'additional info' in the my preference section has any effect on the recipient selection for the offer mail outs?
For the record, I got this offer, but not the last double status credit one (BIS gold).

Gwilli1,

You might want to correct the table as the bonus points for Silver are only 25% and Gold and Platinum only get 50%.

And also based the points they posted on my account the bonus is only on the base miles, not the actual miles for the class, something I have to query with them when I follow up where my return points are, which is now 6 weeks since the return flight and still not posted.

Your correct . I didn't pick up that EY had a different % status points bonus than VA . In which case , you are better off, points wise , to fly VA to AUH and not EY.

I have updated the table in respect to the different % status point bonus between VA & EY . It is also worth noting that this table reflects the current Points Earn Rate structure for EY that is valid only until 31st May 2012. From the 1st June 2012 , EY introduce a revised Points Earn Rate.
