Double Status Credits promotion (Book by 27/2/24, travel 28/2/24-14/2/25)

You only have until next Tuesday 11:59pm to make a DSC booking - and the flights have to be taken between February 28th this year and 14th Feb 2025 - but you can change the booking online to fly on a different date with a completely different departure and destination city and make it a return or a convoluted multi-city or whatever you want. So you can just book a Flex economy one way from Mt Isa to Cloncurry for $246, and then in say September change it to a MEL-LAX-JFK and return flight - as long as you modify that existing booking it keeps the same PNR/reference number for the booking and that booking is registered for DSC so as long as your new flights are booked for travel before 14th February 2025 you will get DSC on them. The key thing is to make the initial Mt Isa to Cloncurry booking for early February 2025 so as it remains valid for as long as possible under the offer.

There are probably other ways of doing things to also get DSC on flights later on that you don't yet know date & destination for.

Good to know - suspected that it might be Jakarta as I couldn't see the Omanis partying hard on Kuta beach but its odd that on their route network page they say Indonesia instead of Jakarta.
I assume being in Perth doing the same thing and booking a flight to Geraldton or Bunbury works similarly?

Should do - but booking Mt Isa to Cloncurry is probably a cheaper initial investment - it's the shortest flight in the Qantas network.

So i registered online and got the confirmation email, an made a booking, but just now in the app it looks as if I have made no choice.

Is there a risk if i select DSC again in the app it will somehow reset the time I opted in to after I made my booking, or do I just ignore it in app?

I probably should have selected dsc in both places before making any bookings. The email is good for proof but I dont really want to have to chase the dsc it should all just happen.

No risk. Just select in app again if you like.

per the FAQ's and T&C you can select as many as you like, it's just the last one that counts (ie the last selection before the booking period ends on 27 Feb). Since you're selecting DSC, the one you've done and have email for would be fine, but if you want to do it in the app too then I see zero issue with this

Since one can register (and change options) up till the end of the booking period, then I see zero problem with bookings made, as long as within the booking period, which yours is. Anyway you have the email with timestamp on it as proof if need be...
(why the app doesn't update this from the QF system is curious, but suggests that the app only displays what you have selected from local cache rather than actually polling the system for the current selection, which is not the best for people who like to change heir mind... but well QF IT.... )

I saw this yesterday, but definitely had an email The first time i selected on website.

Someone upthread mentioned you can change your choice and your final choice when the promo ends would be the one that sticks

From the FAQ:

Can I switch my reward within the offer period?

Yes. Once you’ve registered for a reward, you can change your mind by re-completing the prompts in either the Qantas App or on the campaign page. We will ensure the final reward chosen will be awarded on all eligible flights booked within the offer period. From 28 February 2024, you'll be unable to switch.

Yes.

As per the FAQ, as long as your change of date/time is still within the eligibility window (ie: 28/2/24-14/2/25) then it will still earn DSC.

Hmm this is quite interesting - just overnight I've possibly received an opportunity to travel mid this year and hence make a new booking that I don't already have, so all of a sudden, DSC may be on the cards for me even despite my earlier posts of them being useless for me.

If I were to book the above example (Mt Isa to Cloncurry) for 02/2025 (to keep it active for as long as validly possible), then change the booking but keep the same PNR - would I be able to change to another fare type (ie. the cheapest sale fare), or would it be locked to only booking another flex level fare?

Also, the status credits earned that are displayed in the booking portal - ie. as per below - I assume that these (90 for PE Sale, 100 for PE Saver, 115 for PE Flex, 180 for Business Sale) are just regular SCs earned and that you'd actually get 180/200/230/360 SCs during the promotional period and if you've opted in for DSCs?

My membership year starts / ends in November so if I were to take the flight in June, I'd have (whatever status) for at least 17 months - is this understanding correct?

I mean without wanting to sound silly and derail this being a DSC thread, for that price of $6300+ return in premium economy you can fly business via Tokyo on JL for exactly the same price…..

Also silver really isn’t worth splashing out for…

It's just a hypothetical (it isn't the actual route or class that I'd book - although I'm sure that if I posted another example, there would be another example of a "cheaper and better" fare to elsewhere).

Appreciate any answers that actually answer the question at hand please.

I believe that your new fare would need to flex economy or higher.

Those shown are the regular SC's earn - double that for DSC.

As others have said - wouldn't bother for silver - it doesn't get you into the QF pubs anywhere, and only gives you marginal benefits at best - gold is the first of the meaningful levels (and to be honest gold meets the needs of most frequent flyers).

Thankyou, I realise that Silver doesn't offer much (meaningful) over Bronze anyway - I only pointed it out as the actual route / fare would potentially get me to Silver.

In that case, I might leave it for now as the plan isn't set in stone - I'll continue to chase points rather than status!

I don't look down down on silver or bronze - I was both at one point - and they made me realise that I needed to get to Gold. Unfortunately getting silver doesn't get you any closer to Gold - you still need the 700 SC's in one status year to get to gold. The good thing is that once you have gold it is only 600 SC's to retain it, people have different strategies for that, some do a lot of domestic travel, I do it mostly through return trips to Cairo - because I have to go there anyway.
