Double Status Credits promotion (Book by 27/2/24, travel 28/2/24-14/2/25)

I might take part in this DSC 🤷‍♂️
If I do i'll prob end up using some AS miles in some interesting ways 😎

Not likely to do the below but just checking I have the following correct:

syd-mel-ool J award (18+28) *2 = 92sc
ool-mel-syd J award (18+28) *2 = 92sc

ool-mel-akl-mel-ool J $1760 (140*2) *2 = 560sc
comfort seat $1500 (base fare) = 560sc
+ 50sc bonus for 500sc

cash outlay $1760+$1500 = $3,260
total status credits 92+92+560+560+50= 1354
another 50sc green tier gives 1404sc for WP

As my anniversary is end of January so assuming I did the above flights in early Feb 2025 I would end up with the following status for each year
WP - 2025
WP - 2026
SG - 2027
Interesting. Is double SC on comfort seats a thing?

I wish I could take advantage of this for all my work travel.... Ah well, will ponder options for personal trips :)

This comment reminded me that I have some AA miles and they don't't have cancellation and redeposit fees. I might do some speculative bookings.

Just did some more searches not logged in on work computer and the issue i was seeing yesterday with higher cost for indirect routing seems to have been resolved.

Best I can see on dates that work for me is ool-mel-akl + akl-bne-Mel for 560SCs at $1890, if forgo 40SCs can come home via SYD for $1634.

I just booked the OOL-MEL-AKL route and back, how did you book for comfort seat to get a x2 on the SC?

Does that mean you will get (560 + 560) * 2 as part of Double SC or just: base fare x DSC promo + comfort seat SC?

It seems QF messed with the fare brackets for DSC.
Even hours before I could see loads of 1550 OOL-MEL-AKL return all over the place. But as soon as DSC happened it all bumped to 1800+.

Yes, I inventory has become scant on various routes. Funny that lol

Didn't you post you don't do status runs?

Not taking the direct route is effectively doing a status run.
Unnecessary travel, unnecessary emissions!

Yes yes we know the mantra of why fly direct when you can fly transit. DSC offers certainly up the ante on unnecessary flying. And QF push their green initiatives.

I can't help feeling there are fliers out there just waiting for the DSC offers to come out before they book or even go on status runs. I am not really in that position. I can't see myself saying to the wife I need to spend $1500 for a day trip to keep my WP status and enjoy EK first class lounge in Dubai and QF first in SYD or MEL, free seat selection, priority phone service, greater baggage allowance, priority lanes at airports, early boarding. Hmm, well, at least not yet. Perhaps when things get desperate towards the end of my anniversary year.

No I said I don't do pure status run i.e. fly somewhere and turn around and come straight back. I don't mind an extra leg if it works around travel I am going to do anyway.

So as I have done last 2 years I am spending the Aus day long weekend catching up with NZ based friends, I'll be staying 3 nights.

I don't care about the emissions, my carbon footprint is tiny, I don't and have never owned a car nor a wood burning fireplace.

Further an extra domestic leg is no different than having to do extra flights to earn the same SCs. For me at least the DSC mean I fly less return domestic trips than I otherwise would even accounting for the extra legs on my nz trip (I only fly indirect on one trip a year).

does anybody know if we use a gift voucher for a flight whether the entire flight is credited as double status credits? eg if we use a $50 GV to contribute to a $1500 flight, is the entire flight DSC, or just pro-rata?

No such thing as pro rata DSC like this.

If you use a voucher as part payment the entire fare will qualify as per any other fare - noting the officially published FAQ restrictions posted above regarding use of vouchers.

Anyone know what happens about Flight Credits? I have a couple from cancellations that I could use but they may have original booking ref numbers. If I rebook flights with these now, will I be eligible for double SCs? Thanks if anyone knows

Flight credits, no - they won't work. Travelpass credit will, as it works like a partial payment to the new booking, rather than reusing an existing booking

I read on the AFF article that the double status credits include flights operated by Alliance Airlines. When I spoke to QFF yesterday they said it does not include. Does anyone have a direct mention of the Alliance flights on the Qantas web site? Thanks

Qantas marketed flights ARE included - ie E190 services to Darwin. Alliance charter aircraft for FIFO workers are NOT

Do DSC "bonus" credits count towards P1?
My account says I need 1,600 more credits on QF marketed flights, does that mean I only need 800 flying credits (QF Metal) and 800 bonus credits (from DSC) to meet the Qantas marketed flight requirement?

Entire flight, they don't reduce the "normal" SCs just because you use a GC, so DSC shouldn't be any different.
