Double SC for all! (Book until midnight 6th Mar, Travel Mar 2017 - Feb 19, 2018)

Re: 2 x SC for all! (Book by 6th Mar, Travel Mar 17-Feb 19, '18)

I did get caught in the past when I altered the flight after the close of the DSC offer period and it did negate the DSC. I even rang to check and it was confirmed that the change of flight meant no bonus points

We are discussing SC not points. If you moved dates and the original DSC PNR had not changed you were very unlucky. There were a lot of AAF members who changed flight dates without problems. I changed about 10-12 including international without issues.

If I need to make a new booking for travel on the same day as a previous booking, and wanted the two flights to be on the same PNR so luggage can be checked through and I'm protected against any delays, would they be able to move my first booking to my second booking's PNR?

Same think happened to me and MrsTMA. It's right up there with the usual Qantas IT competence. Suggest she needs to do it again. It's not the click-through that's enough (IME). One has to select the link on the page again and it will take you to a page where you enter your FF details. Then it sticks and you will receive a confirmation email. Better safe than sorry. No email then you have no proof you registered.

Happened to me too. I registered twice via email link and no confirmations ever received. I'll try the web site link to be sure, to be sure!

Have never received any confirmation other than a screen message when registering via a link... I just take a screenshot and save for later if required.

Re: Using DSC to get to Gold.

There's also some suggestions in the Status Run discussion sticky (though that also covers non-DSC runs).

Re: 2 x SC for all! (Book by 6th Mar, Travel Mar 17-Feb 19, '18)

So to confirm. If I just create a flexi Y booking for something now as I don't know exact future travel plans. I can then modify the booking (date and possibly destination) in future and as long as the flights fall into the require time frame, I'd receive double SCs?

Thats what I make of others posts and I think it's just ridiculously creative:)

Re: 2 x SC for all! (Book by 6th Mar, Travel Mar 17-Feb 19, '18)

So I presume eligible flights booked on business direct will also qualify?

Re: Double status credits 2/3/17 - 6/3/17

i presume that you buy the voucher last year when they have 5x points? if not, what does the gift vouchers work for? i am sorry to ask this, i am new here.

Re: 2 x SC for all! (Book by 6th Mar, Travel Mar 17-Feb 19, '18)

Correct. Wellington is the other option (MEL-SYD-WLG-MEL) and can be had without an overnight stay for just under $1700 yielding 400 SC.

I found living in Sydney is very disadvantaged to run SC :(, I can not go via MEL/BNE to get extra, QF doesn't give the routing as through fare

I can only draw your attention to part of the conditions:
If you change or cancel your initial qualifying booking and/or travel is completed outside the promotional period, this bonus offer will not apply.:
i was caught in the past after changing dates and had my bonus SCs disallowed. It seems others did not have my experience and managed to change dates without penalty. I guess you take your chances.

Consensus is yes, why not. I hope it does as I booked 7 J flights last night which should push me into WP for the first time with QF. I'll be pretty annoyed if they renege on that like that did on a previous SC bonus offer.

Not sure your circumstances but Id like to highlight something form Red Roo last year in last years DSC thread http://www.australianfrequentflyer....e-status-credits-sc-75580-19.html#post1437863

All Qantas operated and marketed flights including Qantas flights operated by Jetconnect, Airlink, Eastern Australia, Sunstate and Network Aviation booked on the QF code are definitely eligible for this offer. I appreciate that our webchat team have offered information to the contrary, and we’ve since sent a “friendly reminder” to all our Contact Centres using this example!

To answer some of your other questions:

- As long as you’ve made the original new booking between 28 April – 04 May 2016, date changes are permitted after this time for travel until 16 April 2017
- The offer and conditions are based on the booking creation date, so this may assist with queries about using existing vouchers, credits, rebooking
- While the handy calculator is useful for most Qantas destinations, it’s may not cover all eligible routes

Hope this helps to clarify.

So changes should be allowed. The rule dont appear to have changed since last year. The wording apears to be the same

If you reconstruct the sentence and break the and's & or's apart it becomes:
"If you change your initial qualifying booking and travel is completed outside the promotional period, this bonus offer will not apply."
"If you change your initial qualifying booking or travel is completed outside the promotional period, this bonus offer will not apply."
"If you cancel your initial qualifying booking and travel is completed outside the promotional period, this bonus offer will not apply."
"If you cancel your initial qualifying booking or travel is completed outside the promotional period, this bonus offer will not apply."

They all seem to read to be OK with changes. I think people are getting caught up with the first few words.
Anyway Red Roo's previous comment still stands and should be good enough to argue for the points if needed.

I personally have changed a booking but changed it to April this year so cant personally say how it went. But if needed i will use Red Roo's comments above.

Re: 2 x SC for all! (Book by 6th Mar, Travel Mar 17-Feb 19, '18)

If looking to maximise this offer, take a look at the new Y+ sale.

I booked a Y+ sale fare to DFW as oart of the global sale promotion, $3200 and earning 200 SC's. Today there is a Y+ sale, so that same fare if booked by tomorrow will deliver 400 SC's.

It is annoying and goes against the grain, but even with a $300 cancellation fee it seems to makes sense to cancel and rebook for 200SC's at $1.50 per SC.

Thanks for that, it will be handy to have on file if I do get penalised again. I am travelling at the moment and don't have access to my records, but my flight was a return to Melbourne in Jan 2016, I changed the return flight by one day. Bonus was paid on the unchanged flight down to Melbourne, but disallowed on the changed return flight. When I rang I think they quoted your second version of the deconstruction.
thanks again for taking the time to find and post Red Roo's response

Are bookings made via an OTA eligible for DSC?

I can't see an exclusion in the T&Cs but does anyone have a datapoint?

I can get much better TT routing via an OTA that doesn't show on the QF website, and it would be so much simpler than calling QF.

The way I see it, if it does come off and I get double SCs that's great. The only downside of this plan is stumping up the money now for future travel that I'll need to make anyway.

Re: Double status credits 2/3/17 - 6/3/17

Yep, can confirm the two people i have told thinks im crazy. At first they thought i was joking but when i pulled out a SG card they saw I wasnt.
Im thinking of going doing SYD - MEL- CHC in J this time. Previously i did SYD BNE CNS. Not sure what other great runs are out there from SYD.

i am ex Sydney, SYD-MEL-CHC-BNE-SYD, have to overnight in CHC, flight cost $1617 on D class RT, SC 240 x2, so $3.37/SC

do you have any other better options? i found Sydney is sitting in a middle location that can not go via another node easily to get combinations

Re: 2 x SC for all! (Book by 6th Mar, Travel Mar 17-Feb 19, '18)

Regarding the purchase of vouchers...I note that the T&Cs require "Your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number must be recorded at the time of registration and booking to earn double Status Credits. However, you can't add your FF number to voucher for the PAX, only the person buying it can. If you try to MMB, it just takes you straight to the search page. Anyone experience this issue and it cause problems?

Are bookings made via an OTA eligible for DSC?
Provided you have registered for the offer and booked before the end of tomorrow you would be fine. If you have problems you can ring up and get it sorted. Note bonus SCs may take up to 6 weeks to be credited so if they need to manually credit it won't be till after that time is up.
