There is a term though unfortunately that would probably stop this: “Only points earned/purchased prior to 8 March 2023 will be able to be redeemed for Double Frequent Flyer Points.”

Interesting, though that works out to purchasing QFF at about $AUD0.013 per point — hardly astonishing value.

From memory, it was offered at least twice last year, but no definite info. If you know that you've got some hotel stays coming up you could buy speculatively (I've done this before), but it's probably not recommended considering you're buying at close to 1.5c per QF/VA point with the double transfer bonus.
