Did anyone else receive another email encouraging them to register? I assume it is just another generic non-tailored email, but doesn't fill me with confidence given I registered 72 hours ago...

I got it too. I would assume they're just sending to everyone on the original list or those that haven't booked anything.

I've "registered" and booked flights and got the follow up email as well, so I agree that they've just hit the "resend" button.

This is typical QF. Done this in the past. I think there's zero checking of booking activity per account.. they just send out the reminder to eeryone on the same list. it's lazy.

I mean for the love of the interns, it's not too bloody hard to do a mailout with a simple check:

* has member registered ? Yes then have they made any bookings - don't send anything.. have they registered and not made bookings? Send a "hey it's great you registered but we don't see any bookings yet so hurry to take advantage of this!" and if member registered=No then send the reminder.

not rocket science to me.

Even without checking for bookings, checking for a flag in the system "Is member registered for promotion?" pretty simple I would have thought. Apparently not.

As an aside, for all of us who registered it would be a nice little comfort to get a note saying "Great! You registered! Don't forget you have till midnight tomorrow to make your bookings!" Am I right?

my 2 cents (and yes, I got the reminder)

What is a high value WP? What is a high value P1?

To understand that you need to know what it costs them. I can guarantee that my cost to QF as a P1 is but one bottle of bubbly a year....

And whatever cost a rare "special hello" is from the crew. I use the same lounges as the WP. I eat very little because I have gown averse to lounges and airline food, even in J/F. I probably cost them les sin J or F than a person travelling on points.

How on earth can that be perceived as "marginal".
"Marginal" is a reference to the (now defunct) "marginal Any Seat Award" which was a way of using points to book a flight and also receiving SCs.

Vale mASAs. ;)

Ill defend QF here a little (not sure why since i didnt get the offer)

QF i dont send the email themselves. They outsource it to a agency who send the emails out. From looking at a recent QFF and Red-E emails i got they are sent from loyalty.qantas.com which points to an IP registered to mapp.com. They appear to be a digital marketing agency. I used to work for a similar agency.

Likely someone made the decision not to send a new recipient list to the agency and said to go with the old one. Depends on turn around time of the agency and perhaps cost.
Given the email i got today has a note at the top saying "Qantas Points and Status Credits shown are as at 05 Sep 2017" i would say the turn around time is around 2 days. So with such a short offer it would cause more problems if they sent it segmented like that. If you registered Tuesday and booked something yesterday wouldnt you be very confused by an email asking you to book or worse noting you hadnt registered yet.

Sadly I have had to cancel my QF9/10 A380/B787 flights for next March. :(

Fortunately I have been able to book DSC QF9/10 A380/B787 flights for next March. :)

:D

I hate it when the DSC forces you to cancel an existing booking.

We did similar last year. Told the QF person what I was doing and she said it was a great idea.

gee talk about rubbing salt into the wounds of the plebs who got no email, they are sending people a second reminder email !!!

damn you qantas

On the bright side I'm saving a lot of money by not having got the offer. QF is missing out on some spend. No email = their loss.

Whether in-house or outsourced - it is still within QF's powers to get a simple email checklist along the lines of RicharMEL's suggested triggers. Particularly as the offer is targeted. Lazy for sure, but also diminishes confidence in the reliability of the system.

I haven't bothered doing any re-bookings. Would only be around another 250 SCs but would tie up money in a credit I may not use, plus price of the key booking has jumped another $700 since the sale I took advantage of. Aside from having a soft landing in any event, I will outright re-qual WP next year even on a minimal flying year for me next year. No interest in chasing P1. (Noting I still have 13 months of this status to bask in all its glory).

Will book one or two 'deposits' and will bring forward one domestic J / Trans-Tasman booking by about a month. That's about all QF has gained from me from this promo. Perhaps means I won't receive next time but I'm far less enthusiastic about SCs than before so not that fussed.

If you have LTG and can maintain WP easily I can understand SCs not meaning a lot. QF hasn't got anything beyond LTG for lifetime loyalty.

What is a high value WP? What is a high value P1?
A high value Platinun? Someone who doesn't earn Platinum status with 2 days flying on double SCs and spends ~$2000 to achieve it. Or someone who goes and earns 1,000 SCs on AA YUPs.

In my opinion that's very marginal. I know this is a frequent flyer website and people don't need to agree. Qantas sees it that way too but obviously they are bleeding and need forward revenue.

For anyone wondering why they didn't receive the DSC targeted offer (like me), I just realised on the bottom of my husbands email offer (he was lucky) in fine print it says:
You have received this email because you are subscribed to Qantas Frequent Flyer 'Flight specials, news and updates' emails. To unsubscribe from 'Flight specials, news and updates' emails only, click here

I checked my QFF mail subscription preferences and realised even though I'd ticked the box for 'Exclusive offers for Qantas Frequent Flyer Members', and all the other options, I didn't have "Flight specials, news and updates' checked. Bummer! Must have opted out at some stage, unwittingly.

Could this be the reason why?

Didn't get the promo and I have this promo ticked.
