Well, back online after a month while I've been completing my 2nd DONE4... and it is good to be back!
I'll write up a trip report and include some photos over the next week or so. I learnt a lot the 2nd time round - put into practice some knowledge acquired here to score multiple JASAs over the Xmas break in 12/13 thereby splitting the DONE4 in 2, and generally had a whale of a time traveling with Mrs Paddy, and, at Xmas, Jnr Paddy.
However the trip was overshadowed at the beginning of June when, at the main metro station in Rome, I was robbed by a gypsy gang of my wallet and hand luggage. There's an epidemic of this in parts of Europe at the moment and people travelling should be be extra careful protecting their valuables.
So I'll cover in my trip report the performance of some of the people / companies I had to deal with including:
And, because my Mac Book Air and iPad were stolen I'll start a thread asking how members backup and recover and travel with their technology - I felt my arms had been cut off as I was reduced to begging and borrowing tech to access the web. For example have you ever used an Italian PC keyboard - which 3 key combination is used to produce an "@" I ask you?
Anyway back home, new MBA successfully recovered from a BU taken just before we went away - fairly effortless in the end apart from MS software and the Windows Virtual Machine.
Looking forward to catching up with various threads although I sense from the FB Group that I mightn't be happy with QF's latest xASA 'enhancements'

- Intercontinental Rome - huge thumbs up
- Rome Termini Station staff - fail!
- Rome Police - fail, fail, fail
- Commonwealth Bank (lost cards) - epic fail!
- WW ED Credit Card (lost card) - thumbs up
- Hotel free and sometimes paid wifi - fail!
- TID Insurance - hmmm, we'll see
