That would make it an AA ticket, which implies they still have a 15-sector limit in their system.

AA does still have a 16 sector limit for their systems

I would say you are right. I have the Harry Potter Novel to prove it :)
And remember that when travelling on QF in Australia, you are limited to 7kg per piece of hand luggage - and that includes your ticket weight unless you carry it in your (big) pocket .

speaking of hand luggage, is the weight the same accross OW airlines?
No. QF and BA can be strict on the 7kg/piece. With AA people get away with very large and heavy wheel-on luggage.

For this trip I split my carry-on into two pieces - my usual wheelie briefcase and a back-pack laptop bag. I used to always just use the wheelie briefcase and with the laptop and all its ancilliary adapters, cables etc it came to more than 7kg. So each piece was under 7kg when I flew QF and BA. But for my AA flight, I transferred the laptop and cables etc into the wheelie briefcase and had an almost empty backpack. So when I also added a bottle of duty-free to the wheelie briefcase it must have been around 12kg and was nowhere near heavy compared to most others. It was stored under the seat in front of me rather than the overhead locker, which is very easy in business class on an AA 777 with 60" pitch.

Shame I am not getting on a 777. I am mostly 757 (never seen one!) and MD-80 (never seen one of these either!)

There is a huge difference between 777 and 757/MD80. The 757 is the same cabin cross section as a 737, just longer. Business class (oops, they call it First Class) is 2x2 with 39" pitch, so not great and similar to QF domestic business class seating on a 737. MD80 is narrower cross section (economy seating is 2x3) with similar 2x2 seating up front to the 757.

When possible, I look for AA domestic flights operated by 767 or 777 aircraft as the seating is much more comfortable. Think about the difference between a QF 737-800 and an A330-300 in business class and you get a feel for the difference. I have a DFW-MIA flight coming up which I selected the once-daily 777 service instead of the usual 757/MD80 options. I also waitlisted (and its subsequently cleared) for the morning 767-300 MIA-LAX (non-stop) service rather than the one-stop 737-800 flight that was the only one showing A class available.

Another advantage with 777 on domestic flights is that the business class cabin is sold as coach and reserved for elite FF members. So a great option if not paying to sit up front.

Do you know if elite FF includes QF WP?
Yes, it does. AA is good at recognising QF Platinum and Gold when it comes to seating. But you will need to phone AA and ask to be seated there as I don't think their on-line system will recognise your QF FF status.

v8Statesman,

I have been away for a few days and have only just seen your posts. With your paper ticket, my advice is to remove each section of tickets as used. I had a problem several years ago when part way through a RTW getting into Canada. The immigration naz_ stated something along the lines of you have been to a lot of places on this trip haven't you after he saw my ticket. He then sent me for further screening. After that I have alway removed the sections when completely used.

I also was issued with a paper ticket from AA for my DONE4, however after having to make a chnage towards the end and having only 7 segements left was issued with E-ticket.

I agree with the others that in the US it is comical watching how much and how the stuff is that they take on as hand luggage.

That wont make any difference. As part of the advance screening info they get your itinerary details.

I haven't had problems on subsequent ventures into Canada when removing the stubs. However the guy who sent me for rescreening was an ar**hole

Not great. I am waitlisted on flight to europe around same date, and have been for quite some time. Fortunately I have guaranteed seat in lower cabin to fall back on (thanks to status).

There's the usual advice to try other flights and other days even if it means long transits. Otherwise you could go for a downgraded cabin (economy looks full so this may be a risky strategy).

Well QF9 has come through for me. I am now confirmed in D and waiting upgrade to F. There are 2 F seats left on the plane. I hope my name is on one of them!

Good luck. I'm still waiting and hoping for a no show to get the upgrade.

The company I went to visit today in Phoenix is very security conscious. On their visitor signin sheet, there was a box to write all the countries you have visited in the last 30 days. The box was not big enough .

They still let me in (with an "escort required").

Thankyou. I hope I will. I have been assigned 2E
I suggest you try for something else. In my opinion, 2E and 2F are the least desirable of a good set of seats. The aisle is narrowest at row 2, and access to the overhead locker above 2A requires standing in the seat space of 2E. And since there is no overhead locker at 1A, you will find that people from both 1A and 2A will be wanting to stand on you lap to access this overhead locker.

They generally don't pre-allocate 4A/K since they are the bassinet positions, so ask about them specifically.

But there is no bad seat in F, just some are more desirable than others .
