I've had a bit of a look around in here and on the Qantas and Virgin websites, but can find no info on including a stopover on a domestic ticket - probably because it can't be done, would be my guess. I take it that you must simply use the multi-city booking tool instead. But of course that will generally price out much higher than booking a single ticket.
For example, booking PER-LST (via MEL) is much cheaper than booking a multi-city ticket of PER-MEL + MEL-LST.
So is there any way to book the PER-LST and add in the stopover? Any little tricky tricks that anyone is willing to share? Can an old-fashioned real-life actual person travel agent do it??
As always, any info or advice is much appreciated.

In general, Qantas & Virgin don't really allow free stopovers on domestic tickets. You can book a multi-city itinerary, but the price would be the sum of the two sectors.

For international bookings, it's a bit different.

Thanks Mattg, that's as I had gathered - appreciate you confirming. I guess I was just holding out hope for some insider workaround that the rather impressive brains trust to be found here might know about (and be willing to share in writing ;)).
