Domestic Lounge For Virgin Australia Tullamarine

As a newbie to VA lounges and first time in Melbourne lounge.....i have to say i was expecting a little bit more than Sausages and cold boiled eggs for breakfast. Does it get better than that or is that pretty normal? There was one very bust barrista that closed her machine down early to most peoples annoyance and pretty much just toast and a small cold buffet. No bacon or hot eggs?

It's usually a cycle. Sometimes you're lucky and there's bacon/scrambled eggs/hash browns etc.

I tend to stick with fruit, muesli and coffee in the mornings.

Yep, the extra bits and pieces at meal times seem very unpredictable. Pancake machine is usually out at breakfast which is the redeeming feature for me.

Not sure if anyone is still reading this thread. I paid for access on Jan 15th this year just to see if it was worth joining. It didn't appear to be worth joining. The food available was minimal and as it is January the place was full of kids running around. This was Sunday morning just prior to lunch time. The atmosphere seemed rather "cold" and not very welcoming. Was I expecting too much?

For Jacksond, its a nice "zoo" to be honest.
Since they let every and any one who can pay access, its a zoo. Aud$65 is not a lot of money these days.
Well known for its DIY sandwiches!
Even at lunch.
I prefer the QF lounges, which are a bit more select, and even if a person wanted to pay at the entry, that is not allowed.
While QF fares can be higher on a lot of sectors, what with the VA SC earning drop on shorter sectors, I am now flying VA only so that my VGW points have a place to be put.
VGW has a 4 year expiry date, and a 2 year one for the online version, so I don't have to change exp dates on my billpayments.
Other than a place to park and put my VFF points, I don't plan to fly VA much anymore, or use their lounges.

Hi Jacksond, I would say that VA Lounge is on par with Qantas Club. Both are pretty average and on par with each other. Whilst it is good to have a beer or two in the lounge, definitely not worth the $65.

If you are frequent flyer but does not have lounge access yet, I suggest you sign up American Express charge card. They give you VA lounge access as well, on top of the travel credits etc. So you don't have to pay for lounge access overtime.

Coffee and drinks have been quite good in the VA lounge but food has been fairly abysmal.

Personally I find the food is usually better in the QF Club as they have some from of Lunch and Dinner aside from sandwiches. I've also become tired of the modern VA lounge feel... and sometime feel more comfortable in the QF lounge.

On the downside for the QF club, some of the facilities such as the showered desperately need an update - so VA has a leg up there.

If i were paying for lounge access, i'd probably choose QF Pub over VA (and the discounted price through work does help lean it towards QF).

$65 is pretty steep for single entry for what they have on offer. If it's free take it. I like the AMEX idea above.
