Does QF ever release more seats to lower class?

Looking at booking a trip later this month... If the more expensive fares do not look like they are selling will Qantas release those seats to a more restrictive but cheaper class to get them moving?

Seems to be a heavy time of year, I guess school holidays must be starting at the end of June?

Yep, school holidays are upon us from late June to Mid July.

You are correct though in that if sales are slow, the cheaper fare buckets are often be increased to try to improve sales/revenue for a flight.
