Hi All. Does Jetstar let you carry a cup of coffee on board? ie, buy a take-away cup with a lid from the terminal, then take it on board instead of drinking whatever Jetstar sells you?
Thanks.

They usually make a reminder with the boarding announcement that hot beverages must not be brought on board. You should be fine with everyone else.
I haven't seen someone try it, so i wouldn't know how they deal with you if you tried. Oh, and I am not a coffee person :p

Although I haven’t flown on Jetstar for some time, I often take my lounge coffee on QF flights. Nothing is ever said or announced.

I've had Qantas refuse to let me take on-board a take-away coffee. So I'd imagime Jetstar might do the same.

Clearly hot drinks must be away before take-off.

Even the Sydney Qantas DOM-INT transfer bus has told me "no hot drinks" allowed.

Maybe, but it's happened more than once...

I've wondered then why you can even get coffee in a take-away container from the lounge? But you can!

Interesting question .... so as you may take it on board, I guess, as passengers usually leave the lounge with take-away in hand, for their flight.

Also, when challenged by an F/A, I would like to know how it is determined that the coffee is hot, rather than warm or even cold. Do they assume so, or is it by question and answer? No thermometers involved, as yet?

Have been told at Melbourne JQ boarding that hot drinks cannot be brought on board. Finished coffee then boarded
... yes, but what about warm drinks, i.e., not hot? See what they say about that for a laugh .. :D

Edit: Obviously very inconsistent approach, as I often bring my coffee onboard from the lounge, admittedly on QF

Putting aside the fact here is no such thing as hot coffee anymore, why would anyone even want to try and juggle a cup of liquid when they are boarding a plane and trying to manage their carry on, while navigating the other pax stowing their bags in the confined space of an airplane aisle? This "compulsion" reminds me of all the mummy bloggers, celebrity models and "social influencers" etc etc who seemingly can't go anywhere or do anything without a coffee cup or water bottle in one hand and an iPhone in the other. Why is it so important to look so busy that you can't stop and drink a coffee like civilised people used to?

Thanks for all the replies. To summarise the responses:
  • Jestar seems to disapprove of the practice
  • You might be able to get away with it (especially on other airlines)
  • Whether there's any point in trying is a matter of opinion
