Hey all,

I will try to word it properly for my question.

If I was to purchase the AVIOS subscription (using qantas titanium) on British airway, and then book flights through Qatar (after transferring points from British to Qatar), charging the taxes for the booking using also (qantas titanium) - will the insurance on the qantas titanium activate ?

This feels sort of like the AMEX plat charge insurance - I just want to make sure, as purchasing the AVIOS subscription would cost the FX fee but receive insurance. Whereas if I bought the AVIOS subscription using a FX free credit card, and paid for the taxes with the (qantas titanium), I’m guessing the overseas travel insurance doesn’t activate right?

Also, I would need to book the return flight and not as two one way tickets as well right?

So as far as I understand with the plat, taxes are all you need to pay with it for insurance. One of the major perks IMO.

I would also guess the same as you do re: Qantas titanium not activating insurance just off of taxes. I skimmed through the insurance T+Cs for you and found the following quote:

> pay the full amount of a return Scheduled Flight or Scheduled Cruise ticket for each Covered Person by charging the payment to your Qantas Premier Titanium Credit Card and/or using Qantas points earned on the Qantas Premier Titanium Credit Card

I’ll also say that in my opinion, the method for acquiring the points doesn’t matter as you must pay with:

> ii) Your corresponding Qantas points earned on the Qantas Premier Titanium Credit Card

Earned != bought sadly.

Insurance companies are notorious for denying on fine print. I’d suggest checking directly with them to verify, and getting written confirmation.
